That's what I was getting at. Sure, you and I remember Bungie from its Marathon days, but does the average person playing Halo on XBL know that? I just get the feeling, based on all the Bungie interviews that I've read, that they were concerned about *only* being known as “the Halo guys.”

What ARE you talking about?

Halo was a detour from their real franchise: Marathon!

Those of us who remember Bungee as a Mac-only developer know Marathon is one of the best games ever made. Halo shows a lot of Marathon in its DNA. Halo was first demoed at MacWorld. And then Microsoft decided they needed some real game programmers and bought them up lock stock and barrel.

And it would be nice if they'd do another Oni as well.

Halo? Let it die as a Microsoft-centered game, rather than a player-centered game. it was fun. The original was cool. The rest became a Disneyesque attempt to squeeze the last drop of blood from the proverbial franchise turnip. No wonder Bungee has cut and run.

Can't see what they come up with away from the constraints of working for Microsoft.
