I purchased this vacuum cleaner one week ago. It was easy to put together and I liked the fact that it was easy to manuever around table legs, rugs, etc. Also it was easy to carry up stairs and the telescoping wand made it easy for me to reach something that needed some dusting. However, the second time I used the vacuum, while I was vacuuming, the brake pedal (stabilizer bar) and stabilizer wheels that hold the vacuum cleaner up came off the tract which made my vacuum cleaner lean way back and it would not stand up any longer. As much as I pulled and pulled on that red brake pedal and those stabilizer wheels they would not budge. Their customer service line is not open after 8pm and this occurred about 9pm so I was upset about it all night. The next morning I called Dyson and after being on hold 10 minutes, a customer service rep. told me what the problem was and that the red brake pedal and stabilizer wheels had come off their track and would need to be reset. Thankfully my husband was home that day as it took a strong person to pull this pin looking thing out on both sides of the vacuum and pop them back into a certain slot (the metal pins are on each side and fit into a track or slot). I did not expect that to happen after only the second use within one week's time. Otherwise, it still vacuumed well.

dyson wont honor their warranties. they have a f in the better business bureau. the vacuum was a few months old when i took it in. had a defect since i got it. they refused to honor the warranty.

whats the use of a five year warranty if you have to take the company to court to get them to honor it?

their customer service staff is horrible. stay away from this company.

if you dont want to trust me despite my years of experience with appliances, trust consumer reports and the better business bureau and stay away from the crooks at dyson.

product looks great and dyson has a good presence in the google results. their vacuum is not worth more than $100. After a few months, you have to sue them to get them to honor the warranty or buy a different product.

By far, the worst company I have ever dealt with.

Question: When you put your hand underneath the vac head with the power on, do you feel the suction there, or only a lot of wind blowing? I just got mine and while it does pick up dust etc, when I put my hand underneath while the power is on, I don't feel a great deal of suction at all. Is this normal?

We LOVE our DC17 Animal Dyson. It totally turned our rugs into brand new rugs -- seriously. Expensive, yes, but well worth it...just like my MBP. Matt you're spot on with the analogy.

It's reviews like this why I miss being a tech blogger. I've always wanted to try one of these as it might actually make me vacuum from time to time.

Does that mean that when the cup is full of dirt or when the belt breaks it will give you a frowny face and tell you to bring it to an Appl... err, a vacuum repair shop?
