The extremely, highly anticipated, Android-powered G1 is now official available from T-Mobile. Somehow though, it’s doubtful that T-Mobile will see any iPhone-ish customer lines (please, send us pics if you see one though) due to lackluster initial reviews, but most official T-Mobile stores will open early at 8:00AM just in case there are a few eager buyers. Otherwise, T-Mobile’s website has ‘em available for the same $179.99 two-year contract price, but due to the “extremely limited availability” warning, it might be worthwhile to actually participate in society and head up to your local T-Mo stores.

Yep got mine yesterday! It’s awesome.
My roomate just got one and I have an iPhone. And while I am a die hard iPhone fan, I will say that this thing is pretty darn cool. Not the same as an iPhone hey but to each his own. Much better than any other iPhone like phone out there. That verizon thing is terrible.
T-Mobile just does not want to sell me one of these phones. I actually tried to get in on the pre-release last night in San Francisco. NO DICE. After waiting almost 2 hours in line, I left the store without a G1. (They had plenty them, that definitely wasn’t the issue.) Apparently, if you’re a month-to-month subscriber like myself, T-Mobile’s system isn’t flexible enough to migrate your plan into a contractual one. The only way I can get a G1 at a subsidized price is to start a brand new plan with a new number! They can’t even do a number port within their own network!
. . . Supremely frustrating. I guess I’ll be waiting for a future Android model, off T-Mobile’s network.
