Does this trailer do anything for you? And what’s up with the butterfly? (I haven’t finished the first one, so if it has anything to do with the first one then I wouldn’t know.)

  • Q: Does this trailer do anything for you?

    A: Yes!

    Q: What?

A: Made my penie go aldfkjklaf!

    Q: Please leave.

    A: Bye!

  • yea, I mean its nice to see its coming, but really a press release that said no seriously Bioshock 2 is coming would have been just as sufficient as this trailer, which shows absolutely nothing.

and Peter, how on earth could you have started yet not finished Bioshock? That had to be on of the most addicting and fun games I have ever played period. I recommend that you drop whatever subpar in comparison game you are playing and hop back on Bioshock, the end is pretty worthwhile.

  • I too haven’t played the first one. Fortunately weekend is here and I shall be able to grab myself a copy. It should hold me off until Fallout 3.

  • The game frightens me and my attention span is that of a gnat. I’ll get around to it before the sequel comes out.

    • ok so any way the game freeked me the hell out because plying in a dark scary basment with suround sound is the best way to experience the full effect of a fps so any way what i have read is that Bioshock 2 is suppose to be a prequal to bioshock 1 and apparently what i have under stood is that the whole thing about the sand castles and that are symbolizing the new area that you will explore and so basicaly the prototype for rapture… this is all i have os far.

  • I promise you, no matter what game you are playing it is the game to pick back up.

  • Bioshock is the Beez Kneez biatches! BS2 Fo Life.

  • A 2K developer said that the game is going to act as a prequel and a sequel, and the prequel route makes me quite happy.

But the announcement of a Bioshock 3? That’s kind of stretching it, don’t you think?

  • Caterpillars change to become butterflies. Perhaps “change” is the thought here?

  • Wow, that was pretty dumb. I loved the first game, but that trailer hardly makes me excited or teases me for the second that I am concerned we will all be wishing never was made since it wasn’t intended in the first place.

The fact that 2K Boston has nothing to do with the sequel, Bioshock’s creator and director Ken Levine has nothing to do with the sequel, and the development of the game has been handed off to a brand new and totally untested 2K Marin studio it’s understandable how anyone could be worried about Bioshock 2.

I mean, does Bioshock really even need a sequel? Somehow I have a hard time thinking it will be anywhere as good as the first. I could be wrong, but there was something really special about Bioshock and games like it. They come only once every few years and hardly reproduce the same successes in their sequels.

  • Although it didn’t actually show to much as to where the next game is going, it almost proves that Bioshock 2 is going to be a prequel. “Sea of Dreams”? The dream is Rapture. I suppose you could also say that the rising sand is the construction of the city, and the butterfly is a symbol for hope.. which is pretty ironic.

    • well look at the title in bioshock 1 its nice and clean but then bioshock 2 (they dropped sea of dreams) its all ugly from rust and stuff so its probably a sequel

  • has anyone even realized wht the girl is holding? its a miniature stuffed big daddy. and it looks like shes a little sister that grew up. because if you can rememember the good ending of bioshock, the little sisters come to mainland with
    you.

  • it is a seringe of magnifisant proportions. I’ve beat the first one and it was amazing! The weapons in that game were excrutionating. Have you ever tried killing all of the little sisters? I wonder if you can get an achievement doing that. I wonder if the second one is going to have lazer weapons and more advansed enemies.

  • BS2 fo life! I am with you bro! Anyone who thinks that BS2 isn’t a great game is a little duse.

  • its a sequel i read it in gameinformer and it looks like the girl was using powers tom make a sand castle of rapture cause she wants to go back.

    • Ok, here’s the scoop on the trailer -

1- Bioshock 2 logo appears to dry up and gets barnacles whereby the butterfly comes out of the barnacle.

      Interpretation of 1 above:
The “drying up and growth of barnacles” shows the passage of time – hence a sequel not a prequel. The butterfly coming out of the barnacle shows that out of the time passage comes new life and beauty. Probably a reference to the evolution of the Little Sisters from slaves of the parasite to autonomous life forms with individual hopes and dreams.

2 – Girl holding the makshift doll is a rescued little sister with some sort of amnesia as a result of her emancipation from the parasites. She is now grown but has recurring dreams of a place out at sea, the sandcastle representation of Rapture is like Dreyfuss’s model in Close Encounters of the Third kind (rent it if you don’t know what I’m talking about here). It is just part of the little sisters “dreams” not showing very much actual detail. The doll is obviously a homemade one that she made that represents her close “snuggly buddy” – a Big Daddy. Anyone who has a daughter can see this clearly.

So the girl is on the beach longing to see her friend again, and knows that he is out in the sea somewhere. She just needs to find a way out there.

      Comments?

      • And as far as the teaser website at “somethinginthesea.com” is concerned.

The story there is that the Big Daddy is looking for his lost Little Sister. He doesn’t know where she is, so he is trying to find here around the world and abducting girls he “thinks” is she. He can’t find her though because she no longer has the parasite connection to ADAM and he can only off of looks now hoping to find here and reestablish their connection.

It’s basically a twisted love story like Rapture itself. My guess is that the detective who is able to finally anticipate the Big Daddy’s moves, will somehow figure out who the original Little Sister is and use his contacts in the Navy Intelligence to transport them both back to Rapture. There the detective will try to put the pieces together. :-)

  • naaaa its not a stuffed big daddy its the new thing called a big sister who comes if you kill to many big daddys

anyway im a big fan of the first game. and the second one looks pretty good, just hope theres a big choice wid new plasmids . and will online play ruin it??? i finkso…. whens the release date??
