Amazon Kindle is either Oprah’s favorite gadget or Amazon sent over the largest fruit basket looking for the ultimate endorsement. Either way, by using OPRAHWINFREY as a coupon code, her glorious name nets you $50 off the e-books standard $359 price. Gosh, is there anything Oprah can’t do?
Amazon via BBG & Lockergnome
Update: Our lovely Doug has pointed out that this coupon is good until November 1st, 2008.

“Gosh, is there anything Oprah can’t do?”
Yeah!
Put Sarah Palin on her dumb show!
You do know that she hasn’t had any of the presidential or VP candidates on her show? The last time Obama was on, he hadn’t announced his candidacy yet.
No shit. She denied Sarah Palin when she was requested by Oprah fans to be on the show. That Oprah sure loves Obama though, I wonder what it is, you know? Like, what connection do they have together?
Uhm..like, political views?
We’re both niggers, you hear! Get me some corn and I’ll clean your house sir.
All hail Queen Oprah of Kindle!
LOL!
What happened to “Target Marketing”…Too bad most people who watch her show can’t/don’t read!

LOL. Good one.
People who watch her shoe can definitely read. The only problem is that they read whatever she tells them to…faithfully.
I love the idea of the Kindle, but I’d like to actually get my hands on one for a few minutes before I buy. Reviews are great, but I want some hands-on time since I don’t actually know anyone directly that has one.
What’s with the fake video player image that links to the exact same photo? It doesn’t play video and the link is pointless.
I have a Kindle and I honestly love the thing. It was very smart of Amazon to build, IMHO, because once you finish reading one book you are immediately shopping around on the store for the next book to buy. I’ve bought more books in the last month than I had in the previous 3 months. And I don’t have to haul a bunch of books around with me on the plane. I really love the thing —- I’m going to use Oprah’s coupon code to pick one up for my wife.
Bummer I’m giving this endorsement and getting no fruit basket in return…. ;-)
Yes, she is good at promoting products and her followers love her advice.
I wonder if she has her own Amazon shopping list that her legion of followers can buy her endorsed books?
Lol, Oprah rulez. But I’d better use my mobipocket for free.
Anyone know how long this coupon code is good for?
Good until November 1st.
God bless Oprah. She is a marketing machine and I love it!
“Gosh, is there anything Oprah can’t do?”
Keep the weight off.
just sayin
Zing!
A few questions…
Is this for the new Kindle or the old one?
Is the new one even out yet?
Is this a way to discount and clear out old technology?
The *current* (old) one. The new one doesn’t come out until after the holidays. Q1 or Q2…and that was the plan before the economy tanked, so it may not even come out until Q3 or Q4 next year.
Thanks for the update. Have not followed the Kindle very much; your update is appreciated ;)
Oprah gave the Kindle away on her show today AND she had Jeff Bezos on as a guest!! The code is good for the next 7 days.
I just did it. It worked.
Thanks Oprah !
Oprah and Bezos have a long relationship, and are involved with a number of charities together. I’m sure Bezos will “make it up” to Oprah somehow.

Oprah can get the “Sk Sk Sk Sk Sk Skeety Skeet” business all night….lol
She’s got a nice smile too…:-P
In response to your question, “Gosh, is there anything Oprah can’t do?”
How about bring the Kindle to Canada…. we’re still waiting.
I think the Sony Reader is a better machine but the Kindle is by far the best way to buy books magazines and news papers. I’ll wait until the next generation comes out,I hope next year, to see if its layout is better and easier to use.
‘I’ve created Chuck Norris”, - Oprah Winfrey
I have had my Kindle (named “velcro”– guess why)since April. The design may seem dorky at first and you will get a bit exasperated at constantly clicking for the next page, but once you get the hang of it (about two minutes!), you will understand that the design is perfect. Just enough heft to make you feel lke you’re really reading a dead-tree book, the ability to change font-size as needed, hundred of books and other reading reading materials at a click (or two) of the scroll wheel. Bezos and his gang are genius. I read more now than before, find other genres to sample, and download many free books available from other sites than Amazon. If you really need to interact with one before buying, check out the Kindle discussions– there is a section called “See it in your city” where you can contact an owner and meet someplace public for a hands-on demo.
Yes, I am Kindler and I am addicted!
Gosh, is there anything Oprah can’t do?
Pee standing up?
No thanks. I’m waiting for the Readius due out in December:

$309 in a down economy plus the cost of titles with enforced DRM and no say over what you do with the titles that you buy — versus the cost of a paperback. Is this a cult thing? Do I have to watch the show in order to not see the math here?
Actually, Obama is more white than black so you’re wrong.
