That is, get one if you must. I hadn’t seen this Reverie movie until about a minute ago, but I assumed it was okay because of all the coverage it got for being shot on a DSLR (partly). Unfortunately, it’s awful, and I don’t think it’s because he didn’t have a shoulder mount for his cameras. Anyway, if you’re trying to shoot in HD and you’re so budget that you’re shooting on a D90, are you really going to drop $1500 on accessories? With that and lighting you’re already above the price of something like a Scarlet or a good old HG20. Furthermore, given the motion problems of the DSLRs, I wonder why you’d even want to shoot handheld at all.
I think Redrock has had one of these things for a while, but I can’t find it. Zacuto’s a good company too, but the very idea is ridiculous.

How was that movie awful?? Its not like its a real movie, its a showcase of what the camera (Which is a Canon 5d MkII, not a D90) can do.
I’m sorry the dialogue didn’t enthrall you, but you have to admit the images are very impressive.
You’re right – apart from the bad music, ridiculous lighting, cliched setups, 30fps home-video look, poor use of depth of field, oversaturation, and the fact that fully HALF of the movie was credits, it was great!
I knew you’d come around.
I think somebody is missing the point; I have an EOS 5dII and the image quality, especially in in lo-light, blows our HDV equipment out of the water… no, I dont think youre gonna shot a doco with it – but we work a lot with the luxury sector and for short pieces its perfect.
These cameras will revolutionize the way we film, watch this space…
No matter what you do some ppl always have something negative to say!…
What have you done Devin?
Devin – You obviously don’t understand the realm of HD cinematography since you are not a professional cinematographer. The 5D is a game changer.
