The upcoming downloadable content (DLC) for Mercenaries 2 has two special characters that you’ll no doubt recognize. Yes, that’s Barack Obama and Sarah Palin running around the game’s battlefields with grenades, machine guns and rocket launchers. In some of the more violent moments, Obama throws a grenade into a tank, killing a man inside and Sarah Palin smashes a man’s face against a console. It’s borderline tasteless.

The game currently has a 72 on Metacritic, so you’re not missing much if you skip out on the game.

The update containing the characters is scheduled for an early November release.

  • No John McCain? After all he is the presidential candidate, or did they forget that part?

  • I’m actually considering getting this game so I can slaughter the shit out of Barack Obama. And I do agree about McCain because I would play with him. Also, they should add Michelle Obama, I’d like to give her my 2 cents in this game.

  • Wow, that’s awesome.

    @hawk88 & Brian Barry:
    I’m guessing they went with Obama and Palin because they had character models that looked similar to them. I don’t think there were any old guy models in the original game, so that’s why McCain and Biden are out. It would take about a month just to model McCain’s face (I kid, I kid), whereas on Obama all you have to do is make the ears bigger.

  • That is just awesome. Hopefully you can take down a moose from a chopper with Palin haha.

  • This makes no sense at all. They need to fix Obama’s character so he shoots flowers and peace at the enemy…or at least sends sound waves out of his mouth that places the enemy into a hypnotic lull.
