Consumerist.com is reporting that Circuit City may be announcing at 8 AM tomorrow morning that it’ll be closing 155 of its stores. This is still a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt, but it wouldn’t be surprising in lieu of the company’s recent financial woes.
There was an article in the Wall Street Journal a couple of weeks ago saying that Circuit City was “considering a plan to close at least 150 stores,” so this may just be all of that stuff coming to fruition. So that makes two retail stores that I worked for in my younger years that have either gone completely out of business (CompUSA) or look like they’re about to crumble (Circuit City). I worked at Best Buy, too, so watch out.

And slowly, as the sky darkens, the Great Depression falls over the American people, like a final nightfall on their Empire! We stood and cheered as the U.S.S.R. went down only a few years ago, knowing we were invincible and superior! Now, drenched in drunkenness, porn, drug addiction, one in four daughters 12 to 16 years old with STDs, in debt, evicted, foreclosed, dollar devalued, government in deepest debt ever, jobs slipping away, Asian pressures on our factories, oil at record high prices, our women reduced to Barbie Girl sex objects, food and fuel shortages at hand, car companies merging or disappearing altogether, infrastructure crumbling, schools failing our youths, and government indifference to our plight, we realize the illusion was set up to sell anything to anyone at any cost, to make a commission for the Uber-rich corporate owners. Our own brand of Capitalism has eaten us alive!
Jeez, hurry up and move from wherever it is you now live.
Come to Texas, man. None of that crap going on here.
Amen Brother
This is true.My sons friend was told she will be terminated tomorrow and their store will be liquidated
True. Our Less profitable stores are closing. We were told today in a meeting.

This is only the beginning. No severance packages announced yet, they “don’t know”, along with absolutely no placement assistance for those with multiple sister stores in the same city….wow. What happened to our “North Star” motto, TREAT ME LIKE I MATTER. hmmm.
Looks like they have already updated circuitcity.com to reflect the store closures… Run your zip code to see if your local store is no longer listed. Further confirmed by calling the SB store asking when their doors are closing…”We’re out by January 4th.”
Good riddance. They ran our local store like junk.
25 sales associates on the floor, with one cashier (maybe one!)
WEST NYACK / PALISADES CIRCUIT CITY DOESNT SHOW UP IN SEARCH ANYMORE ON THE COMPANY’S STORE LOCATOR.
Yeah, I gotta’ say the nearest Circuit City to me was pretty much a dump and the staff was usually clueless.

Wow sorry to anyone getting the axe today.
From a few areas I recognize, they are closing stores in lower income areas. guess the SSI checks are not what they use to be!
