I tried it, I don't love it, but its OK. I still think simple sites like Jadsters.com are better. But I'll give it another shot.

Check out PlayOn [http://getPlayOn.com] to watch Netflix (and Hulu, CBS, ESPN and others) on your XBox360 or PS3 (you do need a PC to do the transcoding though)

I have recently joined Netflix and love it. Everyday they are improving the service by adding instant video features and making deals with companies to view their rentals. They may be the company of the year and love everything they are doing. This is huge now that you can view movies on the Mac which is something I have been waiting for. Does anyone have any background info on Netflix? I would love to know how they set up their business model and made deals with the postal service and other operations.

We should send much of the thanks to the brains at Move Networks, since that's who's really making this possible. See http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/08/25/microsoft-invests-in-silverlight-streamer-move-networks. They're the same company that runs abc.com and fox.com among other networks, but those sites are running Move's plugin rather than Silverlight.

This made me laugh for some reason. +A use of spamming dude, haha. As for the ability to watch Netflix videos on Macs makes my decision to switch over much easier, now it's just up to them to release a matte display.

There needs to be a way to block screen saver and sleeping. I just moved my power saving features to off but would be nice if it did it automagically or something.

McSame? Get a new line. McCain never cared for Bush and everyone knows that after the 2000 election. The 90% vote history is because the dems control congress (and they have a lower approval than Bush) so it makes sense to vote party lines, duh.

I recently hooked up a macbook into my AV system and set up "Watch Instantly" to introduce "The Addams Family" TV series to the kids. Once I installed Silverlight, it was pretty easy to get going. They also have the original "Battlestar Gallactica" series and some Dr. Who episodes on "Watch Instantly." I'm pretty sure my son will like the old "Battlestar Gallactica," but I'm not sure if I can get him into Dr. Who, even with Tom Baker. Hmmm, I wonder if they have the A-team.

This is also a beta for PC users on the new silverlight platform as well! Silverlight was a 2mb download.

1. The silverlight experience was several times more enjoyable than the wierd IE experience they had going.
2. Finally, I can use Instant with Firefox.
3. Time from click to Play to actually watching went from 1 minute to 10 seconds.
4. Dynamic stream/bandwidth adaption is totally transparent. They seem to start out streaming in a lower quality mode than as you watch the bit rate gets better and better. So, it seems that if your available bandwidth drops it just dynamically switches to a lower quality stream - totally transparent. I did not get a "your internet connection has slow, buffering" deal once last night.
5. Lastly, MUCH better timeline support. Clicking and dragging on the timeline has killer moving thumbnails - and it's instant, no buffering! Really easy to scan through a whole movie.

Overall, it was a huge improvment. Firefox support, faster, cleaner ui. I did not have one hiccup - pretty clean beta. Nice work Netflix - now just get more new movies up there!

This was a PC, on Firefox 3. Have not tried it on the Mac, where it may ben more prone to a less stable silverlight implementation (and os hex).
