The Navigon 5100 Max does power down by hitting the power and reset button at the same time. Still a bit cumbersome, but, that's how you do it.

I called Navigon and asked them, and that's what I was told. I do remember reading that somewhere else as well.

This device does not power down. I just assumed that "Andy C" didn't know how to do it - I can't believe it - it doesnt. If you leave it plugged in overnight to your cig lighter your car is dead in the morning. Wow. What a product. That blows me away. I mean - how do you make a product that doesn't turn off? And I called too - they were so casual about it!! "Oh that model just doesn't turn off." Haha. I'm returning it.

The 5100 Max has a critical flaw. It cannot be powered down. Due to this extremely stupid oversight on Navigon's part the unit requires a factory reset every 2-3 days or it will not find satellites. Worse part is, these losers do not answer the problem and act like there's nothing wrong.

DO NOT BUY IT!!!!

Basaed on their lack of support on the product alone I would avoid them across the board.
