Spider Wave: A head massage thingy that makes you smarter, look stupid

I am skeptical if the Spider Wave, a new head massage device from Japan, can really make you smarter but that’s what Hiro Corporation, the website-less company behind the thing, tells Japanese media.

Users are supposed to spread the 10 spider legs (made of stainless steel) on the top of the top of the head and turn the device on. The legs will then start moving, giving you a gentle head massage that is supposed to relax and free you from any work- or school-related stress. The maker recommends an electric massage session of about 3 minutes.

Japanese online shops are selling the Spider Wave already [JP] (price: $15). When I searched for the device in Japanese at Amazon Japan, I found a very similar model here. Although that thing is twice as expensive, people living outside Japan are able to order it (learn how to do that in English here or here).

  • Not sure…

But is this any thing to do with “acupuncture” therapy?? Seems similar.

  • These are a rip-off on the design of My friend Lindsey Brooks, who invented and patented “Dr. Groovy’s Copper Massager”. They are an awesome product, and available at Pike’s Place Market in Seattle.

The first time you put these things on your head you totally shiver form head to bottom of your spine. They’re great for tingling your lover :-)

It’s too bad it’s just her, and not some global megacorporation, otherwise she could fight this.

    • I’ve personally seen this massager on my grandma’s night stand…bought it in 1972! What a knock-off artist your friend is, they were made by sharper image a long time ago!

  • Interesting…I bought one of these in 2003 at a kiosk in the Prudential Center in Boston, MA when i was going to school. It was a total impulse buy…But the thing totally rocked for about 2 months until all the metal tine things got all bent out of place…(hey it was college.)

Anyways…This is neither cutting edge nor technological.
    But i’ll still love you.

  • I’ve seen these sold everywhere from gas stations to sex shops since about 2000.

  • Definitely would want to use this in the privacy of my own home. Its probably impossible to look cool with this thing on top of your head.
