Sprint picks up SANYO Katana Eclipse X, Pink Ranger swoons

Oh Katana series, I both love and loathe you. On one hand, you’re basic and welcoming to all of those crazies out there who just want their phone to be a phone; on the other, you’re pretty much a RAZR minus the part where people buy you by the boatload.

The Katana Eclipse X is not unlike the Katana Eclipse announced months ago, in that.. well, in just about every aspect. The only real change in this release is the addition of Sprint’s OneClick interface – beyond that, it’s the same phone we reviewed back in August.

Specs after the jump.

  • 2 inch internal display
  • 1 inch external display
  • GPS
  • Sprint Navigation
  • Sprint Mobile Email, Music Store, TV
  • Mp3 playback
  • Bluetooth
  • 1.3 mp camera with video recording
  • 4.6 hours of talk time

  • I recently purchased a katana DLX in april. The phone stop working the begining of Oct.The phone was never dropped or wet,i took it to a sprint repair center where three techs all said the phone had not gotten wet! and suggested to send it to sanyo,I DID!They returned the phone unrepaired saying there was some (dampness) around one of the screw portholes?is it possible the phone was not put together properly in the first place. At any rate the customer service at sanyo is terrible!!! Now i’m dealing with a woman named May who is suppose to be some kind of supervisor, even gave me her direct number and ext. however she does not answer her phone or return messages!!Sanyo should ashamed and embarassed to have such poor customer service in such a competive open market as cell phones. After the expericence i have had with sanyo i would recomend AVOID AT ALL COST,EVEN FREE!!!!

  • I only picked this up last night and already I love it. The live or on demand TV (okay the screen is small but when you are bored standing in line to vote…amazing distraction), the GPS and the find it function, the pink color (yes I am a girl), the “bubbles” on the main screen where you can have weather, news etc on the main screen when you flip open your phone, web surfing, etc. All the bells on whistles on a standard flip phone. I tried the Rumor and Rant in store but could not for the life of me get used to using my thumbs on a Qwerty keyboard. and I wasn’t going to set it on the table and try to type normally! And I type about 90 WPM. Love it.

  • OMG I luv this phone I have it on pink !!! And t’s awsome lol lmao !!! Well Bye !!!
