The PS3 firmware just got a teeny-tiny bump that improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software and also fixing a bug concerning text entry via the on-screen keyboard, USB keyboard, or Bluetooth keyboard. Notice a difference yet?

Yeah, I noticed that I couldn’t log in to play Little Big Planet and had to waste another 45 minutes upgrading my PS3 for more features that I don’t ever use. If Sony is going to make us upgrade so often, they could at least make the patch files smaller.
I was thinking about downloading this up date after work. Sounds like a hassle though.
I had to download it this morning. I thought it might help with downloading the 1.2 update for Resistance 2 but no, still can’t play that online. PS3 is awesome.
Well it is about time that they realized that that was wrong with it. I think its great that they finally fixed it now I hope nothing else will go wrong with it.
if you have a slow connection then download the update to a usb stick while you are at work. shesh some people just complain about everything
Yep 2.52 has bricked my Blu Ray drive. Worked well BEFORE the patch.
Now the drive will not recognize any discs. And all I get is the little loading circle in the top right hand corner of the screen. My ps3 is the 60GB 1.5 Years old and no problems till this update.
Someone report this to the media. There are MANY people with the problem.
My PS3 60gig One year and two months old did the samething after 2.52 update?????? It worked before then just FFFFFFFFFFFNNNNNNNNNNNN Fine. Sony messed something up and now we have to spend $150 to fix it???
Same problem here. 60gb launch model… worked perfectly, then now it won’t read any disc after the 2.52 update, just the little circle in the up right hand corner. this is terrible.

Same problem, 40gb, i downloaded 2.52 for the HOME beta… system was perfect…. after 2.52 upgrade, I did not play any games for a few days – and now when I try, i get the circle on the top right…. DISC DOES NOT SPIN AT ALL.
Once again, same problem. 80GB model, 9 days out of warranty. Won’t ready any media, CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray. Everything else works fine and the system worked perfect before the update. Sony tech supports says that there is very few of us that this has affected so they are refusing to believe that it is their update that caused this. “But you can send your console to us for $150 and we’ll fix it and give you another 3 months of warranty!” Yeah, not happening Sony…thanks for the $500 brick…

i cant wait to make a company then sell customers something…then force an update on my customers about a year later when their warranty is up that will completely screw up their product then make the SUCKERS pay 150$ for my company to fix it…YEHAW!

my ps3 makes a nice gigantic paperweight after the update 2.52
After the update, my Ps3 has stopped working. Actually, the update itself failed, and then the Ps3 had to reboot, it never did. I now can’t start it!
hello everyone i am also having this problem with the update 2.52 after i did what i was force to do i played gta4 maybe for half an hour it just froze on me and i simply turn it off as normal and it did not want to load a game ect so i waited for the 2.53 update to see if it would over right any error and nothing aint it something how this update came out b4 christmas and the xbox went on a hell of a sell was this a set up by sony so we can go out and buy another ps3????
My friends had this happen to him too. We took apart his PS3 and checked it over, probably did more damage than good, he decided to undo the BluRay drive as he left a disc in there and it was a nightmare to get back together. Still broken. Come on Sony!
I can’t belive I am seeing these posts in such numbers. Yeah, it happened to us too. Great system purchased with kids’ own money in May. Christmas brings Little Big Planet, which requires system update. Bam. No Blue Rays, no Dvd’s and difficulty with Game DIscs. System has been treated like an idol and run by-the-book with no problems until this update. Anyone now if restoration of the PS3 System will reset things?
