Crutchfield has the Sony Mylo 2 for $199 after a $100 instant rebate. For the record, the whole idea of instant rebates is brilliantly dumb but, hey, don’t poke at the beehive, right? The Mylo series fits into that otherworldly class of “mobile internet devices” that have Wi-Fi connections but don’t use cell networks.
So your $200 gets you online wherever you’re able to grab a Wi-Fi signal. The thing’s got Skype built-in, too, so you can make VOIP calls. There’s also an RSS reader, 3.5-inch touchscreen, 1.3-megapixel camera, slide-out keyboard, and one gigabyte of memory that’s expandable via Sony’s proprietary Memory Stick cards.

I never knew this existed – why wouldn’t they make it a phone? I could see it competing on some level with the iPhone, especially in countries besides the US where Sony might be able to come in at a lower price.
No bluetooth:( I want one that can tether to my phones internet so when I go vacationing where there’s no readily available internet then I can hook it up to my phone. Other than that it looks like a cool unit.
heh…? “For the record, the whole idea of instant rebates is brilliantly dumb…” Instant rebates allow for the consumer to receive a better price, but the retailer/dealer to keep their cost pricing the same (eg. they make the same amount on the product sold, before the rebate was applied). It is a retailer driven promo tool.
If you sell it to me for $200 then I”ll buy it
