John thank you for being one of the very few retail workers that i come accross who are helpful and respectful. You alone can't make up for your fellow employees lack of competence and concern for customers and it's not your job. My experience at CC in Thousand Oaks CA has always been terrible. Workers just walk around talking to each other and never make an effort to help people. There was a young guy there in the car audio department that was always really helpful and I found myself coming back to spend over $1000 on my own car, and bringing friends who were looking for speakers and such. So customer service obviously plays a vital role in a companys revenue, something CC lacked overall. Sucks they went out of business. Clearly they needed a different strategy to get the company back on its feet.

So I bought a digital camera at my local Circuit City tonight. paid $239 plus tax. Got it home, opened the box, and there was no camera in it! There is a battery for a Palm Treo, an HP remote control, 2 small metal padlocks, a stack of religious cards, and a picture of the fucking camera cut out of a pamphlet of some kind. Obviously, someone returned the box full of crap to Circuit City and nobody bothered to open the box to check if the camera was really there. The store was closed by the time I got home, so I couldn't deal with it tonight, but I'm definitely worried because my receipt says no refunds. How much you wanna bet I'm just screwed?

Poor management, high prices and mindless drones good riddance to this place. I'm 28, and for YEARS I have been carded whenever I try to buy an R rated movie. I wandered into the Nashua, NH store today to browse the DVDs, and found that even with 20% off, most of them were still more expensive than Best Buy, which shares a parking lot with them. This place can't go away fast enough.

Circuit City is a big rip off. I just visited the store in Emeryville, and their sale prices were a joke. For instance, I just bought a Haier 42 inch LCD 1080p at online from a store called U.S. Appliance for $799. Shipping was free and there was no sales tax. It works great. I hooked up my PC via HDMI and am using it as both a television and large monitor. Try to find a deal like that at CC.

I feel for ya.. really.. but that company sucks.. If you look at the prices it a no wonder they're closing.. I would have been worried from the being.. I used to work for a grocery store called ACME markets.. they are high priced also.. I got out when I found some better.. the public is only going to ripped off for so long.. times are tight.. stores are going to hold to more stock with cause the manufactors to not ship as much.. someone is going to have to lower prices..

this liquidation is a joke. krap is marked up over 30% and consumers are told that they will get an additional 10-30% off. alot of dumb consumers are paying on average 20% higher than they would, had circuit city not gone out of business. these liquidators are EVIL. people get tricked so fast, its unbelievable. please tell your friends/family not to go there and get ripped off. at one of the stores, the liquidating manager was instructing the store director to jackup the price by $700.00 on a 50 inch TV and tell the customer you will get $300 off. stupid customer agreed and paid $400 more than she would have, had she purchased from BestBuy or another retailer.

You do know that CC went under and ALL of those employees lost their job? Bad customer service? Dont be so insensitive.

Your little disappointment means little to what those workers lost.

yeah, but mark is right. i was down there today. it was a joke. there were no deals. nothing was posted about what the terms were. the sales people you could find had no idea what was going on. customer service was terrible. i went across the street and got the same printer i wanted at staples for 50 dollars less. i say good riddance circuit city. i've never bought anything there because it's always been a terrible experience.

How to spot a store full of idiots:

I just got back from the Ann Arbor Circuit City. There is a sign on the door that says: No Checks, No Credit Cards, and No RETURNS.

1st off, just say "CASH ONLY"

So I go in to look at floor standing speakers. They have the Klipsch Synergy F-3 at $479 each. Keep in mind that Klipsch list the MSRP at $950/pair on their website. They are $8 HIGHER than MSRP.

So the 'Liquidation' works as such:

10% off electronics
20% off DVD/CD's
30% off furniture

Are they out of their freaking mind?! Cash only sales and only 10% off of stuff that is listed HIGHER than the MSRP? No wonder they are going under.

People are lined up in droves over there. Fucking idiots.

Going out of business... Deserves you right, fuckers! You fire thousands only to tell them they can re-apply for lower wages, and then Christmas time rolls around last year, and you're somehow on an advertising campaign after bankruptcy! Explain that one, you greedy, greedy pigs! Lewis Black is right. You people just wanted to out-spend each other and buy crap you'll never use, like seven cars and 3 homes, while everyday people, not just kids with bloated bellies in Africa on those infomercials, but everyday Americans lose their jobs under people like you and can't figure out a way to keep their family afloat. SERVES YOU FUCKING RIGHT!
