This fairly long video shows you how to create a mail trigger in Outlook to shut down your PC or Mac whenever you send a text message to your mailbox. It’s a pretty simple trick - I think I had this running back on an old Linux box when I was still on Sprint in like 2001 - but it’s nice to know it’s still possible. Add this to your friend’s computer and drive them absolutely nuts!
[Thanks, Joey!]

A few suggestions:
1. call your batch file something other than shutdown.bat to prevent possible conflicts with shutdown.exe
2. you can skip the qwiry step if you send a text mms message to your account
3. for security, i’d suggest setting up the rule to also check the sender address
anybody have any ideas of how to do this without requiring outlook or e-mail client to be running?
Twitter would be a good alternative. It could replace qwiry and outlook, but would require you to write some other custom app to parse your feed.
so… can you guys just write a regular Text Guide. Because my internet is slower than 56k..
Thanks in advance.
Well I just need a bit more info on how to get outlook to get your text message.
