Comments on: INCASE launches iPhone 3G Power Slider battery pack

I just returned my Incase Power Slider. I have a relatively new Iphone 3GS and the Slider periodically interferred with phone reception. Sometimes it was ok but other times, in areas with medium service (not low which was even worse) I would have to take the case off to make a call. When I put the case on I would watch the bars disappear. Since the only purpose of this product is to increase battery life (well, and to protect the phone, as well) on an Iphone, how can it be that it worsens the ability to use the iphone? I now have a Mophie Air and no longer have the problem. Also, periodically when I connected tried to charge the phone with the case on it would give me a message saying that it couldn’t be charged with that accessory. Maybe it was just that particular Slider but I was not happy. For now I am happy with my Mophie even though there is not as much battery and the case feels like it’s going to slide out of my hand. At least I can talk on the phone with it on!

That’s because you have to unlock your phone, especially if it’s passworded.

The steps you have to perform are this:
1> Unlock your phone so you’re at your home screen
2> Press and hold the button on the back of the case for a few seconds. When the light starts to flash, plug the phone into your computer with a USB cable (it doesnt have to be the one it came with)
3>pull up iTunes if you haven’t already.
4> sync away. I used to have trouble too, until I read the instructions about having to be on the Home screen.

5> press the button on the back again to cancel the sync

Note: while in sync mode, your iphone is not being charged, so don’t let it stay in sync mode for several hours.

MY DOG CHEWED THE TOP HALF OF MY POWER SLIDER. CAN I BUY THIS AS A PART? I LOVE MY EXTRA BATTERY LIFE AND I WOULD HATE TO HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER COMPLETE UNIT.

my power slider has gone out on me already. I charged it up and put my phone in it. and 30 min later it stop working. the lights on the back wont come on and it wont charge my iphone 3g.. does anyone know how to fix this with out taking the case back…

Sure, of course you could. But Incase advertises the product’s ability to sync while IN the case, so it’s not unreasonable to expect it to work as advertised.

My desktop doesn’t even recognize this as an iphone. Laptop does. Both on widows XP, Dell support is pointing the finger at incase, incase says the problem is with my computer, the story goes on and on. Battery life is great syncing suck, have to take my phone out of the case everytime. Incase fix this!!!

Dude… why would u buy a case for a case?
the battery pack doubles as a sturdy case and its strong as hell! the battery life is amazing this is one of the best buys ive gotten for my 3G and i dont think ill ever switch it unless a new one comes out.
Yuh this case is bigger and thicker, but the protection and extended life on the 3G well out weighs that.
With this product you have the ability to
“have your cake and eat it too”
u should buy one before u rate it…
$99 bucks was great for buying a case ill never replace again beats spending $30-$40 dollars every time i get bored with an old one

had one for about a week now and it looks very good and quality is high…battery life is good but syncing with iTunes is problematic at best. It usually doesn’t work at all and you can throw away that nice iPhone dock as now my iphone has to sit on the desk with a USB cord plugged in to the bottom.

So…very unreliable sync, no dock and clunky USB port location don’t outweigh nice look and feel and improved battery life.

Using the new slider for a couple days now and this is not the answer!!!!

Too heavy, too bulky……. Sync times are unacceptable with problems and errors.

It has a nice finish and looks great.

I just ordered one, too. This is a POWER SOURCE AND A CASE IN ONE ALL-IN-ONE — and we all know that incase makes the best 3G slider case out there. Judging by the photos on apple.com and incase’s sites, there is definitely a speaker screen at the bottom of this device. Have not received it yet, but here’s a pre-emptive pro/con to consider

PROs:
More than Doubles battery life
Versatile Charging (charge with any mini-USB adapter, looks like typical port).
Stylish protection, like all incase products

CONs:
Looks like the thickness is apxdoubled
Won’t dock with apple dock-charger or docking systems, ie Bose, etc.

I plan on switching between my regular black matte incase slider for daily use and my new incase power slider for extended business trips, overnight trips, etc.

I think the best buy Iphone 3g 16 gb. and install it on his software version 2.2. Its large
touch screen and very comfortable realized sensory management. I bought a Iphone and happy!)

Not sure why one of the prior comments was asking what case you would use with this – read the details – this acts as a case itself in addition to providing extra battery life.

One more thing, what case could one use after you attach this thing? It adds length to the phone and thickness as well. I not sure if there is anything out there case wise that can handle the thickness and the length with the powerslider attached to my iphone.

I guess this is one of those things where the old saying come into play,

Not sure about this. The bottom seems to cover the speakers. If so it will eliminate your speaker phone capabilities and plug up your ringer. Nice concept, but it appears the speakers were overlooked.
