The New Xbox Experience is currently being pushed to all Xbox 360s. To celebrate (?) its launch, Major Nelson, the Xbox division’s chief of propaganda, has put together a snappy list of 10 things you need to “check out.” You know, create an Avatar (I shan’t be doing that), start a party (I shan’t be doing that), install some games to the hard drive (not worth my time) and just plain ol’ look around (nope).
Fun for all.
The most significant addition, obviously, is Netflix support. The rest is largely “oh, neat,” then you go about your business.

Well look at Mr. Too Cool for School. Some of us have been patiently waiting for the NXE, because of the party system and game installs (my 120gb is ready to be filled).
Lately this has been a bit of a common occurrence with these smug to good to participate on what you are reporting on douchiness here at crunchgear….
By the way Avatars are only for nerds right? Like nerds that openly admit they spend 44 hours over a few days on World of Warcraft…nah casual gamers are lame and you are way way better than them.
Why do the avatars stand like they’re flaming homosexuals? …not that there’s anything wrong with that. (Seinfeld fans, anyone?)
I wholeheartedly agree. I installed it with no problems this morning while making breakfast. I made an avatar, which, kinda pissed me off, because I had to go to the 3rd set of preset avatars to get to a black guy, which was a little kid none the less. After I made my guy, I was like, “Umm ok, now what?” I don’t use Netflix, don’t need to “party,” I may install GoW2 just to see the difference, if there is any. Don’t get me wrong, Im sure Im only one in a few people that don’t really care about the update. I mean it is a cool UI upgrade, but, to me, it was just a little underwhelming. I just feel that everything is becoming social and its starting to get a little annoying. I can’t think of one thing that has become some sort of a social network. Look at Boxee. Its a cool media center, nice UI, nice features, but its also a frikkin’ social network. Why?
Those avatars are just randomized, you can customize them to look however you want after you pick a base, including size, weight, height, and skin color.
So curious to have someone post about what they (massive douche alert) “shan’t” be doing with something. If you don’t believe try posting about what you “shan’t” be doing with the Storm or iPhone and see how it works out.
NETFLIX blows, cant even get the damn thing activated… ant the price it costs a month, might as well buy an Apple TV and rent HD movies…
Ha ha, i still don’t know what nicky the MS hater still doing here I thought he said My xbox was gonna explode and kill my whole family with this update? I guess you were wrong but im sure your used to that….
I am thouroughly displeased with this abomination of what was once considered gaming.
If i wanted a Wii, with funny little avatars who have bobble-heads, I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT ONE.
Xbox 360, the last serious gaming console, has been marred by this era’s lack of sophistication. Do we all seriously want such a child friendly interface? Just because not everybody knows what they’re doing right off the bat doesn’t mean we need to dumb everything down.
And you know what? The most simple decision at that board meeting should have been to MAKE IT OPTIONAL. But NOOOOO. When asked “is this interface optional(because it damn well should be)?” Xbox.com actually responded with the statement “Why would you want it to be?”.
You insignificant dolts! You were not asked whether or not we wanted it that way. A simple question avoided, because Xbox knows the straight answer of “No, if you don’t like it you have to keep it.” is ridiculous!
I WAS a die-hard xbox fan, but have lost all respect for what was once my favorite piece of machinery.
Perhaps because the blade interface SUCKED?
I was constantly being flipped to a different section/blade, each blade and section WITHIN a blade had it’s own idea of what up/down and left/right should do, it was a gibberish mess.
On top of this it was a very slow and laggy interface, not to mention adding one more blade would have made the screens too small to hold much content.
Are you sure you don’t just hate change?
Because every Xbox360 game now plays different because of NXE right? I am sure you used your 360 for it’s GUI instead of the games.
People just hate new shit, first the facebook criebabies and now this. LMFAOWOF!
Stop hating! What do you have? A frigin Wii?
