John Brownlee at BBG has written one of the most compelling posts of the past forty five minutes to an hour. His essay, essentially recounting his starring role as a Christian robot in a school play and the heart-stoppingly horrible explanation he received from his teacher regarding sentient robots is well worth the read.
I just saw Hell House and the robot in John’s story, Colby, seems to be a direct extension of the mindset of Christian apotheosizing – fear and titillation are the best tools to turn on the non-believer. Anything else, including rationality, is suspect and, worse, promises disbelief.
I’m glad John wrote this story and I’m glad that he remembered the last line verbatim. It’s an incredible ending that I don’t want to spoil, but please check it out.

(enter John Conner) Come with me if you want to avoid eternal damnation!
haha wackjobs
that’s awesome! nice find!
I grew up loving Colby. That BBG guy couldn’t have perverted what Colby was like more than he did. If that guy what’s to criticized Christians, he should at least be honest.
Colby was and is harmless.
The last sentence says it all.
