Wait. What was I supposed to write about? Oh yeah, we have another contest running starting today to give away a Livescribe smartpen. I really wish I could remember what I was supposed to tell you about this thing. Maybe you should just watch the video.
How do you win?
Simply tell us in comments why you need this doohickey and we’ll pick a winner at random on Tuesday the 2nd. Entries must be in by 12 PM EDT on December 2nd.
Shout out to Target for hooking us up, again.

This would definitely be nice for classes. Maybe I won’t do so bad with this helping me out…
This would really help in law school. My professors are on an anti-laptop kick and my loan checks haven’t provided much additional spending money to buy one of these.
Would be helpful in meetings.
I can’t remember why I need this. I might have to write it down next time.

I like pens.
i just want to win something..
I’d be interested in seeing how well this thing works, and to find out if it would be practical in helping keep track of notes and what not at work. I hate having to input the same info more than once.

I want to put napkin drawing instead of Visio in my design docs.
Would really help me in taking notes during my classes.
Oh, you bet I need one of these. The worst thing about face-to-face meetings is that no matter how copious my notes are, they’ll be very difficult to decode months later. Being able to synchronize a recording of what was being said to what I wrote down would really make me more productive.
this geek needs this…. and im broke.
I don’t need one of these, but I’m a sucker for a CG contest. And Peter Ha is the man. Thanks for the Quad Charging Stations, Peter!
Anyway, my handwriting – terrible. And that’s why I take all my notes on my smartphone’s slide-out keyboard.
I only need it when I can win it.
I need this so that the recording feature will mean I can finally read (Play Back) my own writing
I wonder how well this would work with my incredibly bad handwriting.
I’d forget my head if it weren’t attached. This would help… if I remembered it…
Taking notes in my Humanities class is a daunting task due to my professor’s sporadic comments in the midst of the notes. I cannot write down everything and listen at the same time without missing something. With this pen I could listen to exactly what he says as well as help out other classmates if they missed class.
Plus my girlfriend just got one for free through some tech conference and I am jealous. Please help me thwart my insignificance due to my lacking this pen.
Writing down the phone number of someone hot on a filthy cocktail napkin at a dive bar is completely useless if you wash your jeans with the napkin still in the pocket. However, if I had this fancy-schmancy pen to write with, I wouldn’t even need to remember the napkin!
Now, if I could just remember to take the pen out of my pocket before putting the jeans into the wash…
This would be great for journal keeping! Go Target!
Because it’s cool and I don’t know of anybody else that has one yet.
I could definitely use this pen as I am a stand up comic and product like this would help organize my material. I could not only record Ideas while writing but I could speak into to archive a quick thought and when on stage I could hit the record button and record my set for future analysis.
I could do wonders with this tool!
Just turned 42 and am forgetting EVERYTHING. I need all the help I can get!
This would be a great way for me to capture all the contextual info that basic notes don’t :-D
I want this because as a lefty, I constantly have ink smeared on the side of my hand…this would leave my hands so fresh and so clean clean.
I have three uses for this smartpen:
1. During work: It would be awesome if I could save all those diagrams that I end up doodling to help me understand different systems.
2. During Grad school: It’s Grad school! The smartpen would be a huge help; enough said.
3. During Army stuff (Reserve): Gotta keep track of all those troops while keeping the commander happy!
Oh yeah, Target is awesome.
I need this to write a wrong.
I have been salivating over this pen for the past 1.5 years, seeing it go through development, launch, and availability at Target. Being a frugalista, I’ve been waiting for it to go on sale, and getting a 100% off discount would be my Xmas wish come true.
To write the next Bob Dylan song.
I would use it when taking a history on a patient so that I could record their words as I make notes.
I’d love this pen. I will use it to write the next best thing…
I’ll use to write a thank you note to you.
Thanks you Crunchgear.
Thanks
Ian
I didn’t even watch the video to figure out what this thing is, but Id love to play with it!
I need this to replace the pad of sticky notes and pens that I currently carry around or stash in places where I think I will need them
Would love it for taking notes in class!
I want to be smarter. Would benefit me at work meetings and general task around the house.
I need this because the gadget nerd within has been unfulfilled for far to long.
:)
TOP 10 REASONS I NEED THE LIFESCRIBE
10. It wouldn’t suck the way my Deathscribe does.
9. Matches the color of my eyes.
8. None of my friends would have one, if I had
any friends.
7. Perfect girl bait for a geek.
6. Would pair up perfectly with my Lifescribe
pencil — if they ever make one.
5. All the nut-cases in here will be so jealous
if I get something sharp.
4. To help explain to Mom how analog can become
digital.
3. Nice parting gift if I get laid off.
2. It has more memory than I do.
1. It will keep my pocket-protector from falling
out.
I need this pen because I am an undergraduate Chemistry major and I’d love to have digital notes but it is not feasible to just use a laptop due to the number of diagrams that need to be drawn in my notes. It would also be awesome to just be able to have a record of what my profs have said because they all talk fast and have foreign accents.
When I write things down on random bits of paper, I wouldn’t have to worry about keeping track of the random bits of paper any more. (Unless this thing requires you to use special paper that I would have to carry around with me.)
You know how you walk into a room or open a file and forget why? Today, I opened a site in Dreamweaver and couldn’t even remember which file I was going to open, let alone what I was planing to do with it.
Honestly? I don’t really know- but I’ve always wanted one.
It might be nice to be able to digitize notes I take at meetings.
As a teacher it would be great to be able write my lesson plans with this pen.
I am a student that need to take notes. I really wanted to get one but couldnt afford it. Now I can hopefully win it. This also is a great voice recorder so my notes can now have the full lecture too.
At one time I used a tablet pc for note taking which was a great solution for me, however, in my current job I don’t have that sort of technology available. A Livescribe smartpen would be the answer to a lot of my problems when filing notes and staying on top of my task list.
i would use it to draw on people while they slept :>
Wow.This will be an awesome device to have.I really didn’t know about this device so far before i saw your post. Now i’m drolling.I simply want to have one of those because i want to show it off to my friends & want to make them jealous.
this pen will really help me out in school
it will help me get good grades
I’m a junior in high school. Right now, I’m really preparing for college and trying to get the best grades I can.
My main problem: When taking notes in school, I understand my teachers’ lectures completely. But when I get back home and look over my notes, I have no idea what I wrote in class. Then I have a difficult time trying to decipher what my teacher was trying to explain. Livescribe will really enable me to go back to what I was writing, and actually hear what my teacher was saying.
I’d love to have this pen. It would be beneficial tool for me in high school, and well throughout college.
