While we did manage to download and watch a movie last night, the previous post is correct in saying that it “ain’t quite ready for prime time yet.”

I’m using it with a home wifi network and the network connectivity has been a little quirky. Sometimes it displays its own MAC address incorrectly when you view the details. Wierd.

To get it running required a factory reset, but several power cycles over the first two days of operation. If you aren’t a techie who enjoys messing with “beta” rollouts, then this is probably not the service for you yet.

And, I hate to put it that way because I would really like to see Blockbuster succeed with this rollout, which means that they need lots of new customers on the box.

However, if I wasn’t a techie, I’d probably have already boxed it up an sent it back demanding a refund. As it stands, I’ll just shuffle through the next few software revisions until they get it working better.

Since we already own the equipment, all we would have to pay for is the monthly subscription of $9.99.

Which is not bad. I just that you are not limmited to a set number of the movies or something like that.
