Apple patent for liquid cooled portable computer submitted
by Matt Burns on December 2, 2008

What do we have here, kiddies. Was Apple trying to slip one past us by submitting this tasty patent for a liquid cooled portable on Thanksgiving? This patent that may, or may not, see production describes two separate cooling processes involving liquid.

The first is an active, two-stage system that allegedly employs a gas and liquid to cool the vitals. The second transfers the heat via a pump onto a large aluminum plate (maybe the entire lid) located behind the screen for optimum cooling. There is no tell if this patent, like so many others, will ever be employed on a mass scale, but with quad-core chips now seeing mobile use, maybe this is Apple’s solution to keep ‘em cool.
