Of the netbooks I've owned (3), the original Eee, with the Celeron processor, had the best performance. The thing was quick.

Now, I know other things come in to play here (memory, HD, OS, etc.). But, that machine had no problem doing the simple tasks that netbooks are intended to do.

I want to see some more innovation with tablets... there's something there IMO, just hasn't been done as well as it could be yet.

What happened to the one that TechcrunchIT was doing?

I hear you... but at some point even browsing gets hard. I haven't gotten to try many so I'm waiting to see what happens. I'd say $300 is a good spot as long as they really do what they say they can do.

If slapping a Celeron in an Eee will drop it to 200 bucks, I say drop a K6 in there and get the thing down to 150.

I'm kidding, of course... kinda. But, you get the point. To me, these things need to get as cheap as possible. These things are way over priced for their intended use. If they get down to the one to two hundred dollar range, I'll take two.
