Pyranna: plastic clamshell opener and finger saver

Plastic packaging are made by the devil. That’s a fact. There is, on average, 300,000 severed limbs caused by these plastic death traps every year. That’s a fact, too. Maybe. Anyway, the Pyranna should help cut down on ER visits by zipping through the plastic easily and safely. With Christmas coming, it might be a good time to invest in one of these. Only $9.99 on Amazon.

  • If you read the comments on amazon, you discover this great idea doesn’t work worth a damn.

  • Interesting- especially since Amazon seems to be trying to lead the way in getting rid of excess and plastic packaging.
Of course the obvious question- does this come packed in a plastic clamshell that you need to bloody your hands to open?

  • That thing looks like it would feed the freshly cut plastic right into that extra skin between your pinky and your wrist.

I’ll stink to my teeth, thank you very much.

  • Normally I refrain from commenting your posts; however, I had one of these so I feel it is my duty to inform everyone else of my dealings with this POS.

    Epic. Fail.

    1. They don’t cut all packages as well as advertised (just those they show you).
    2. Holding the package wrong, or if the closing mechanism unlatches, will allow you to chop off the tip of your fingers if you’re so inclined [read: so retarded to use this].
    3. They easily slip off and you end up running the edge through your fingers on the hand holding it.

If we had the opposite of the Holiday Gift Guide or a section of “Do Not Buy” items, this should be first.

  • You can accomplish the same thing with a can opener.

  • I don’t know if this item works, but I stopped looking once I got the “Clamshell Scissors” at http://www.leevalley.com/gifts/page.aspx?c=2&p=59398&cat=4,104,53200&ap=1

  • Just like when we were kids, there were always kids that were mean and disrespectful, the kids that broke things and hurt other kids. ,
