The United Kingdom’s Times claimed Sony would be launching the Playstation Home next week and it seems they might be right. SCEA has confirmed with site Joystiq that the launch is almost here.
“We’ve been saying it will launch by the end of calendar year 2008,” PlayStation Home director, Jack Buser, responded when asked about a December release. “And that’s getting very, very close,” he concluded, laughing. ”Launch is imminent,” Buser confirmed.
So there you have it. The launch is imminent. Does that mean next week? Christmas week? New Year’s Eve? IDK, but it’s imminent.
I’m a bit of a PS3 fanboy. And I couldn’t care less about PlayStation Home. I don’t want/need another reason to spend more time online. And are people over 14 years really going to create and use those avatar things the Wii is so big on? Really??
What is it with these giant Avatar vs No Avatar crouds?
It seems like ther eis always a group that feel they for some reason are superior to the other just because they dislike the idea of 3D Avatars. By some twisted logic apparently an avatar is only for the most childish of gamers, a REAL gamer clearly dosen’t need one just because they said so with no logic behind it.
I disagree. I actually do not consider myself a “real” gamer, as I only turn on my PS3 a few times a month at most (to play games – its otherwise used for media) – unless I just bought a game I really like. I know there are people out there who invest far more time in video games, and I’m content allowing them the designation of “real” gamers.
So it has nothing to do with the “real” gamer argument. It has more to do with the idea that people in their late teens/twenties(/thirties???) create cartoon versions of themselves and spend significant time online wii’ing around with others doing the same thing. Its the same thing with WoW. I’m not judging you, I just cannot for the life of me understand why somebody would do this.
But hey, to each his own. If you guys enjoy it, I’m glad they made it for you because more PS3’s sold is a good thing for everybody. I’m just saying I don’t care about PlayStation Home.

so dont use it! its free , some people want to meet other gamers online to play games. this gives them the way to do that. If you dont like it, then ignore it!
home is coming out in eight more days, xplay confirmed it the other night. so it will make xbox avatars and wii mii’s look like shit.
