OCZ has announced the Slate Series ExpressCard storage solution to be sold in the sizes of 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB. These are for notebooks featuring an ExpressCard slot, but they also feature a mini-USB port for an additional connection (a mini USB cable is included). The ExpressCard is designed for the notebook user who likes the idea of always having backup without carrying a USB drive or an external HDD.

Maximum read and write speed are 18MB/sec and 12.5MB/sec, respectively, which is dog slow to be honest. Price and availablity date are unknown, but we do know that the Slate Series will be backed by a 2-year warranty from OCZ. I don’t see this one going on my Christmas list; my USB and external HD drives work just fine.
