The days of skipping advertisments completely with the help of a DVR might quickly disappear. TiVo is now injecting ads when owners simply pause TV. So far the ads haven’t been rolled out to the newer Series 3/HD models and seem to only be on Series 2 boxe,s but the time will probably come when everyone has them. Apparently, the monthly costs associated with TiVo weren’t profitable enough and now us paying subscribers are going to be bombarded with even more ads. Nice.

First time that happens in my house I’m giving them a call. This is not what I signed up for 5+ years ago when I got Tivo.
@Howard, I’m sure they’ll point to something in your contract that says they can bend you over whenever they want.
Dirty bastards. If my life wasn’t full of enough advertising already.
I’ve got 3 words for them. “Cable company DVR.” All I’m saying.
Dish DVR beats the ever-loving crap out of every cable DVR (& Tivo) I’ve ever had. In the end, the ads will be everywhere. The revenue stream will be too hard to resist.
So…. you getting upset about an ad that will appear when you pause your TV? I am glad I have better things in my life to worry about.
Tivo spent years making their brand friendly to consumers, and going out of the way to help them. I’ve spent time and money on their products. I didn’t pay to get ads when I pause, and, I’m going to complain about it. Since you have other things to worry about, why don’t you post about them instead?
