NEC today announced a new notebook that will hit the Japanese market in the middle of next month and costs $1,600. The main selling point of the VersaPro UltraLite Type VC is its design (which NEC calls “full flat”) and weight: 868 grams. It measures 283×210×25~29.8mm.
The notebook comes with a Celeron 723 CPU (1.2GHz), an Intel GS45 Express chipset, a 12.1-inch WXGA (1,280×800) LCD screen, 1GB of RAM, a 80GB HDD, 4 USB ports, Windows Vista Business as the OS and with a battery life of 12.5 hours.
NEC also offers optional SSD support, WiFi, a different battery and Windows XP Professional as an alternative OS. The release of this model marks the beginning of the 3rd generation of NEC’s line of ultramobile notebooks.

The models with no WiFi are not mobile at all, even more ultra mobile …
Also, models with those specs will not run Vista very well; would have been better off with WinXP really, like most mini-notebooks are doing.
