PS3 going down, Nintendo Wiictorious

wiictoriousIt’s not really news but rather a confirmation of that which we have all been feeling for a long time. The PS3 is wounded, possibly dying, the Wii is succeeding beyond everybody’s expectations (well, not everybody), and the 360 is comfortable in the middle ground, having given up the fight for #1.

The battle is over, people. Nintendo has won, and decisively. Sony won the last one, Microsoft can’t really lose with Gears and Halo on its side, and Nintendo has had this glory coming for a long time. Let’s just enjoy the fruits of the last few years of heated competition — by coming over to my house and playing Twinkle Star Sprites on my Dreamcast.

  • Define “succeeding beyond everybody’s expectations”…

If you mean it’s selling like crazy and they can’t make enough to keep on shelves…then yes, they’re succeeding beyond my expectation.

If you mean they got lucky and tapped into a new market and banked off that without producing any quality games…then yes, I agree to that as well.

But to declare Nintendo the ‘winner’ to a superficial war based on sales alone just doesn’t seem all too right.

  • The Wii is a piece of junk. The PS3 and Xbox are going nowhere.
