You should be angry and disappointed at yourself for buying the mouse knowing it was a piece of shit.

I have had the mouse for a couple months and I have never had any problems with getting shocked. The extra buttons are nice, but I don't use the d pad at all because I push it all the time by accident when I move the mouse since it is right where my thumb rests. Also the two buttons on the right are really just 1 button with two sides and its hard to hit it quickly and accurately on reaction (I use the mouse for arena). The same thing for the two buttons below the mouse scroll, just seems kinda hard to hit them fast and accurately. the two buttons adjacent to the mouse wheel are great though, and I use those and the two on the left. I guess these buttons would be more useful for raiding where things are less unpredictable than arenas.

The mouse worked perfect for one day. After i exited WoW i had to re-start my pc in order to have the extra buttons on the mouse work (only the basic mouse buttons are working). None of the custom buttons now work. I have to re-install the drivers everytime i start the computer to play WoW. I hope they can fix this because i love the mouse and was able to enjoy the full experience for a day. I now know whay i can expect, too bad i can no longer use POS

dtrav,
I just got my MMO mouse yesterday and I am having the exact same problem. I have to unplug the mouse or my HP Firebird 802 won't boot or reboot. This is frustrating and I wrote SS about it. Other than that I have had no problems with the mouse. No shocks or button problems.
FYI, if you use a computer and have carpet/and or live in a place where there is a lot of static electricity you should always discharge prior to using any computer. You can fry not only your mouse but your whole computer.

I went back and forth for weeks and didn’t buy this mouse because of all the negative reviews I had read about it. Stories of the mouse shorting out, unplugging/replugging the usb to make it work, buttons no longer working etc... Well, I finally broke down and bought the mouse anyway about 2 weeks ago. I figured these negative reviews to be Bullcrap. Boy was I wrong....

Suddenly, for no reason at all. The 4 way pad and Windows Button 4 and 5 stopped working. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling the software and any other troubleshooting ideas I could find online. Eventually the mouse pretty much stopped functioning altogether.

This mouse has left me very angry and disappointed. I took the risk because of the amount of buttons this mouse offered. The bottom line is Steel Series knows this is a defective product and they choose to rip people off anyway. To anyone that is even considering purchasing this mouse. DONT DO IT. Save yourself a headache and your hard earned cash for something else!

I just picked up this mouse 4 days ago and the following are my first impressions. Note that I am a WoW-addict Night Elf Hunter playing on average 4 hours per day. My play style is through a multitude of keybinds and macros, utilizing a Logitech G15 (original 18 button) Gaming Keyboard and a Belkin Nostromo n52 keypad.

The Steelseries is replacing a Saitek Cyborg mouse. Similar in that the Cyborg has a plethora of buttons, slightly fewer than WoWmouse.

The overall shape tends provides a tendency with my smallish hands to slide a bit back on the mouse. In order to reach the forward buttons on both sides I have to do some major stretching with pinky and thumb. The two buttons flanking the scroll-wheel are a bit wide for my taste, forcing my index and ring fingers into a wider V than is absolutely comfortable. I like the base flares (or fins) but the right side needs to be longer. Was some corporate designer thinking it had to look symmetrical from the bottom?

On the plus side the buttons operate beautifully. They have a light but not quite hair-trigger touch. The three broad pads make the mouse skate with very little friction across the pad. Note that because of their size and shape you won't be replacing them with high performance pads.

The software is excellent for producing the macros for button association. It took me a few minutes to figure out the pullout "drawers" for getting the mouse going but then I'm a firm believer in "when all else fails, read the instructions". Then and only then. My only complaint is that I use Vista 64 and wish there were 64 bit drivers and software available.

I use the software that comes with the mouse... It doesn't fit on my screen and there's no way to resise it. My mouse seems to work great no button issues, or static issues and i managed to get it off of amazon with no wait.
