  • So the real question is how do you get it because its no where to be found?

  • Any chance you can share your controller mate config, or provide some additional detail on how you used the application to configure the mouse? I am getting the basics of the button programing to work, but how do you change the DPI etc.

  • I’m a huge WoW fan atm. Just got this mouse Xmas Eve! What a gift! Had it on pre-order for about 3 mounths. It is a big mouse, Looks awsome just gotta weight for blizz to pull there finger out and get a driver done so make it more compatable useing the 15 buttons for everything elce appart from WoW. If you PvP or PvE this mouse WILL rock you world! HF GL JB :P

  • you can’t get it yet because Steelseries is being a bunch of pricks….after pushing the release date back 5 times, they are now not showing when they are going to release it….they were hoping a lot of hype to get a lot of pre-orders…guess what…economy kicked their ass and now they are just being the greedy kid with the candy in the corner

  • The 2 fins, as you call them, are there so that your fingers don’t come under the surface of the mouse when you move it side ways. You can ‘rest’ them on those fins sorta speak. If the fins aren’t there, and you rest them on your mousepad, this will happen…
But… I like the (way smaller) fins on my G9 better then on my WoW mouse… For the rest… perfect mouse!

  • @Mike: Yikes, a little bitter. The mouse is on preorder (or back order really), they’ve just had a ton of demand for a limited supply of mice. I just got mine today and I pre-ordered it a couple days after it was announced.

While I haven’t had a lot of chance to play with it, I raided with it tonight and was super pleased by the way it handled in a raid. I also really enjoyed the size of the mouse, I have big hands and liked the fact that it felt well with all of the buttons accessible.

  • I am having troubles with getting my buttons on this mouse to bind to a single keystroke. I want to bind a button on the d-pad to “shift,” but it is not working too well. I am having troubles writing a macro for it and getting it to actually work as a keystroke. Any ideas?

  • I have had the mouse for less than 30 days, and the left button on my mouse is sticking. I was told that they ( Gamestop and/or Steel Series ) sent them out, knowing they were defective, They are holding back on shipping out the good ones untilt he defective ones are sold. In my case, they are ordering one for me. As I understand it, it will come from the good stock rather than a defective one from another store. We will see.
Overall, I think the mouse has a cheap feel and many of the buttons are not easy to reach.

  • Here in Poland they get delayed all the time too – and I’d love to get my hands on one of those in order to test if it is as good as most reviews claim.
Well, it seems I’ll have to wait more. So far I’m using Logitech G9 and it’s one of the best mice I had.

  • my left mouse button has stuck too…
    customer service here I come!

  • Oh my. Now, we WoW fans have more reason to stay online. Lols

  • My problem is that when i push the dismount button and the stopall button my character cheep my spellbook, my world map and everything comes up? what a waste of money this mouse is..

  • Bought my mouse on Thursday Jan 22, it continued to disconect from my computer and then finally die on Sunday altogether. Took it back to the store i bought it from to have them tell me its from the good stock of mice that came out. Anyway, they ordered me a new one hopefully this one wont die. Plus, i didnt see a game card in my box someone must have intercepted it before i got my hands on my box.

    • Well have had my replacement mouse for 6 days and today the 2 right thumb buttons stopped responding. Gotta say this is the neatest looking piece of crap that I’ve ever owned and will never buy again. Going back to logitech and staying there!

  • I am a Korean. English cannot understanding once, well wishes. The difficulty truth has and the mouse for the 1 months wait this only gets clogged is receiving. To me sells is who is to 90 dollars? There is not a medium altitude higher officer. The period when gets clogged with here wishes. bestjone@nate.com

  • Been in pre-order for 2 months now and has been delayed for another month. Which i don’t really put my hopes on. I just hope it won’t break down on me once i recieve it

  • Had the mouse about 5 minutes. I got an electrical shock from it and the LEDs stopped working. What a POS.

    • Same thing here, I got the mouse and the stupid thing build up major static electricity, when it shocks you it drops all function and literally kills the mouse until you fix the drivers (with a new mouse)

  • You guys are so full of it.. An electircal shock??? LOL you guys must work for Logitech writing that complete BS.. LOL! My awesome mmo mouse is working perfectly! lol electric shocks what BS! lol =P
And I cant wait for the new 1.03 drivers to make it even better!

  • Had the same shock problem here, have had nothing but problems wit the mouse, have to reinstall drivers everytime i restart my computer. And the other day, went to go use it and got the shock and the mouse turned off and hasnt worked since…

  • Pfft a electric shocks ive had mine for well over 2 months no problems what so ever (besides the driver incompatibility with windows 7). Best mouse iver ever used for MMO purposes, And i sorry but lol at the stupid electric shock comments. XD

  • You know I thought I was the only one getting shocked by the mouse, glad I’m not crazy. It does happen, its like a static shock, then the mouse lights all go out stops moving, then it kinda reboots and works like normal again.

It also periodically freezes, but unplugging it and reconnecting it fixes it.

  • Yea I got my mouse tuesday, its been working fine so far, however that electrical shock is super annoying. I’m afraid it’s going to kill the mouse.

  • The shock problem is not a myth- the problem is they made it out of conductive metal instead of plastic. If you have carpet you WILL shock it eventually which is @$*&ing retarded… Usually it just disconnects and comes back but mine was just permanently damaged after a shock and now it wont register one thumb button…

DO NOT buy this PoS. I can’t believe blizzard actually endorced something so incredibly problematic.

  • I got this mouse a few days ago. Got everything set up using ControllerMate. Then noticed very strange things happening. At first it seemed like the mouse was losing connectivity somehow. I thought it was because my USB hub wasn’t powered so I hooked up the a/c apadpter. Then I started noticing that whenever I left and returned to the mouse, it wouldn’t work. Again, I was thinking some kind of loose connection or maybe Controlermate conflicting with other progras or something. Then Button #4 stopped working altogether. I tried it on 3 differnt computers and realized it was the mouse so I returned it for an exchange.

2nd mouse worked fine, then I started noticing the same thing that whenever I left the computer and returned, the mouse wouldn’t work. It woudl work if I unplgged it and replugged it into the USB port but I couldn’t figure out what what causing the mouse to stop working.

I thought maybe some kind of sleep timer on the mouse – then I thoguht that was jsut stupid.

Then it dawned on me. I usually generate a little bit of static when walking arond my apartment. So I tested out this theory. I built up some good static on me and touched the keyboard. Zap – mouse would disconnect. I repeated this several times. I’d say at least 85% of the time the mouse would drop. It also occured if I touched the mouse first.

So static electricty and this mouse are not very good friends. I don’t know if a driver from SteelSeries would fix it, but after finding this forum, I’m inclined to just return the mouse for my money back – even though for WoW and healing with healbot, I love the mouse.

  • This mouse had worked for 2 weeks, I got static shocks from it for a few times. Also, the mouse stopped working just today. I have never owned a mouse that is so stupid, and…….Anyway, do not buy it. This is a piece of Chinese crap. It is not even worth 100 BUCK

  • Sucks to be you if you have to deal with customer service… you are better off getting another product that dealing with these idiots.

  • OK peeps this mouse is responsible for my grand mothers death!!! SHE HAS A PACE MAKER AND SHE TOUCHED MY MOUSE AND IT KILLED HER!

  • Ok im a fan of steelseries gear most of my stuff is made buy them and its been great. But the mmo mouse sucks hard…..i have had the thing for less than a week and the right button is getting stuck its hard and annoying to click. The macro integration is terrible and i cant even get anything other than really simple ones to work. Sometimes a macro will just make the map and your character screen pop up???? And to top it off steelseries is getting these mice made in china when my other gear from them isnt. I just went back to using a normal mouse and threw my mmo mouse in the bin. Really angry.

  • Update: I’m still on my 2nd mouse. Since figuring out the problem, I’ve tried to make sure to de-charge myself before touching the mouse. (BTW Jack, the mouse isn’t sending shocks, it’s us sending shocks to the mouse that cause it to malfunction – but nice attempt at humor.)

I’ve been in contact with customer service at SteelSeries and they have told me that they are aware of the issue and that there is no workarounds since it’s a hardware issue, and (according to them) not a common one. But they have offered to send a replacement if I wanted; but couldn’t guarantee that the replacement would be free of this defect either.

They also informed me that a new batch would be ready by late April ‘09 and that batch should resolve this issue. They offered to send me that one if I would choose.

So, I’ll keep using this one until the new batch is ready at the end of the month, and I’ll let everyone know how the new one works out for me.

Customer service has been good with this, so far. There hasn’t been any problems or dramas.

  • I use the software that comes with the mouse… It doesn’t fit on my screen and there’s no way to resise it. My mouse seems to work great no button issues, or static issues and i managed to get it off of amazon with no wait.

  • I just picked up this mouse 4 days ago and the following are my first impressions. Note that I am a WoW-addict Night Elf Hunter playing on average 4 hours per day. My play style is through a multitude of keybinds and macros, utilizing a Logitech G15 (original 18 button) Gaming Keyboard and a Belkin Nostromo n52 keypad.

The Steelseries is replacing a Saitek Cyborg mouse. Similar in that the Cyborg has a plethora of buttons, slightly fewer than WoWmouse.

The overall shape tends provides a tendency with my smallish hands to slide a bit back on the mouse. In order to reach the forward buttons on both sides I have to do some major stretching with pinky and thumb. The two buttons flanking the scroll-wheel are a bit wide for my taste, forcing my index and ring fingers into a wider V than is absolutely comfortable. I like the base flares (or fins) but the right side needs to be longer. Was some corporate designer thinking it had to look symmetrical from the bottom?

On the plus side the buttons operate beautifully. They have a light but not quite hair-trigger touch. The three broad pads make the mouse skate with very little friction across the pad. Note that because of their size and shape you won’t be replacing them with high performance pads.

The software is excellent for producing the macros for button association. It took me a few minutes to figure out the pullout “drawers” for getting the mouse going but then I’m a firm believer in “when all else fails, read the instructions”. Then and only then. My only complaint is that I use Vista 64 and wish there were 64 bit drivers and software available.

  • Hey had this mouse a couple of months now. At the start and still i cant get custom macros to work even the premade ones doenst work. Decides to open all kind of folders and stuff ingame.

Any1 have a tip for me to make macros with this mouse that work ingame.

I also have been exp that the mouse goes to sleep and i have to plug it out and bk in to the usb-port to make it work again. I must say for paying that amount of money this mouse im not impressed even wrote to steelseries about the problem with macros and just got the user guide answer back which doesnt help me at all.

  • I went back and forth for weeks and didn’t buy this mouse because of all the negative reviews I had read about it. Stories of the mouse shorting out, unplugging/replugging the usb to make it work, buttons no longer working etc… Well, I finally broke down and bought the mouse anyway about 2 weeks ago. I figured these negative reviews to be Bullcrap. Boy was I wrong….

Suddenly, for no reason at all. The 4 way pad and Windows Button 4 and 5 stopped working. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling the software and any other troubleshooting ideas I could find online. Eventually the mouse pretty much stopped functioning altogether.

This mouse has left me very angry and disappointed. I took the risk because of the amount of buttons this mouse offered. The bottom line is Steel Series knows this is a defective product and they choose to rip people off anyway. To anyone that is even considering purchasing this mouse. DONT DO IT. Save yourself a headache and your hard earned cash for something else!

  • I have to disconnect the mouse when i boot up my pc, if I dont it freezes my machine, anyone else have this issue?

    • dtrav,
I just got my MMO mouse yesterday and I am having the exact same problem. I have to unplug the mouse or my HP Firebird 802 won’t boot or reboot. This is frustrating and I wrote SS about it. Other than that I have had no problems with the mouse. No shocks or button problems.
FYI, if you use a computer and have carpet/and or live in a place where there is a lot of static electricity you should always discharge prior to using any computer. You can fry not only your mouse but your whole computer.

  • i was going to buy this mouse this week until i read the really bad reviews on amazon. i guess this mouse is a pos mouse with a WOW logo stamped on it.

  • The mouse worked perfect for one day. After i exited WoW i had to re-start my pc in order to have the extra buttons on the mouse work (only the basic mouse buttons are working). None of the custom buttons now work. I have to re-install the drivers everytime i start the computer to play WoW. I hope they can fix this because i love the mouse and was able to enjoy the full experience for a day. I now know whay i can expect, too bad i can no longer use POS

  • Well lets see if i can be unemotional about this . Nope i cant, I cant believe i fell for the hype, this Piece of crap mouse. Its total fail. I owned it for all of about 4 hours and two raids, onyia 25 and voa 25 and hmmm all of a sudden i get no movment whatsoever. ooh here i am wall humping, I try to get off, im like must be my fault. i reload drivers, and Wow doa nothing, thank goodness the mouse i was gonna replace hadnt given up the ghost yet. because that microsoft one, actually worked. Thanks for nothing steelseries, may you enjoy any moneys you get out of these in hell. Ps. I do love there steel series mouse pads. awsome make just the right size. and awsome looking. For there mouse, well may they rott in hell

    • everything on the one I bought works except logging in players and realms wonT’ do it no matter what tried reinstalling tried all the tricks nothing seems to work. but the mouse is also good for other games

  • my main button LM1 is broken, the
spring is broken, or verry bad, i wonna ask if anybody here knows how to seperate the mouse to replace it (:

  • I have had the mouse for a couple months and I have never had any problems with getting shocked. The extra buttons are nice, but I don’t use the d pad at all because I push it all the time by accident when I move the mouse since it is right where my thumb rests. Also the two buttons on the right are really just 1 button with two sides and its hard to hit it quickly and accurately on reaction (I use the mouse for arena). The same thing for the two buttons below the mouse scroll, just seems kinda hard to hit them fast and accurately. the two buttons adjacent to the mouse wheel are great though, and I use those and the two on the left. I guess these buttons would be more useful for raiding where things are less unpredictable than arenas.
