Put on your woot hats and prepare your fun cannons because the iPhone 3G is getting its official unlock on New Year’s Eve. Isn’t it a little cynical to launch a cellphone unlock on New Year’s Eve? Listen: the folks who will buy an iPhone, break the contract, and soft unlock the thing probably won’t be hanging out in the Rainbow Room come midnight. They’ll be snug in their beds, tapping warily at their MacBook trackpads, counting down the seconds for the first true soft unlock of the iPhone 3G. And they say technology isn’t destroying human interaction.
Kind of a new year gift to all the 3G iphone owners who can cancel those subscriptions, own the handset and change the SIM to another network and stay on low expenses in this economy downfall!

I assume that you are referring to the VNC tool that is used to display the iPhone screen on your PC/Mac. For that you will need to download a VNC client (just google “VNC Client Download”) and you will also need to install VEENCY on your iPhone through Cydia. Go to Cydia, Manage, Packages, and search for VEENCY (a very small application that is developped by the same guy who wrote Cydia and Cycorder) after you install this application, run the VNC client from your PC/Mac and provide the IP address of your iPhone (Which can be found in Settings/Wifi/(Network Name Properties).
What’s with the New Year’s Eve thing ? :/ , kinda stupid will make most of the people sit on internet waiting for it rather than partying hard IRL.

does it mean that I can use the iphone without the data package of AT&T? o use it with any other company?. In South America the iphone es being sold for 1/2 the price and unlock. Next time I go there will bring 3 of them
