Blizzard’s World of Warcraft now has 11.5 million subscribers. Assuming each subscriber pays $15 per month, that’s approximately $172.5 million per month in raw revenue. That’s quite a bit of coin.
Even more impressive is that, of the 11.5 million, 4 million of them were added last month alone following the release of Lich King. That’s a lot of people foregoing actual human contact to level up their new Death Knight.
Meanwhile, the servers have been down for a good part of the day today because of extended maintenance; they’re only now (around 3:30 pm at time of writing) starting to come back online. People’s lives hang in the balance, Blizzard! How many of the 11.5 million players depend on WoW to get them through the day.

And they say PC gaming is dying.
Umm, if only every subscriber actually pays that monthly fee…. that monthly subscription differs per region/country. In NA we pay that, but I’m fairly certain its a different cost structure in Asia.
That’s not to say that Blizzard-Activision is not making a fortune however :D
“They” have been saying PC gaming is dying for a loooong time. That said, WoW is kinda destroying other gaming markets. I quit over a year ago, and I’m NOT sorry that I did.
You have to love the WoW franchise, fantastic stuff nice and reverting
World of Warcraft has not won any awards yet however Blizzard Entertainment
has won the loyalty of millions of fans. Blizzard Entertainment has reported
that World of Warcraft now boasts a subscription base of 11 million wow
account. As an avid player myself I cannot find a better way to spend
$14.99 a month. You cannot find better entertainment now a days.
Yeah, they indeed have tons of subscribers. As long as they release patches which must be solving bugs and should be enhancing the features of the game so that we can enjoy playing it, people will patronize their game.
