I’m proposing we have a get-together at the Surly Girl Saloon [Map] in the Short North on Monday at 6pm. It’s between holidays, it’ll be nice and cosy, and we can talk of many things, including but not limited to, cabbages and kings. Please email john@crunchgear.com with the subject line “COLUMBUS” if you plan on stopping by.
I have a BB Storm on hand so you can ridicule it on Monday. Ohio start-ups, please bring some marketing materials.
If you already emailed, I’ve got your RSVP. You can follow me on Twitter for updates as the evening progresses. We’ll be in the back room of the saloon.

Great to have a meet-up in Columbus. I will be there, if I am in town on that day.
Thanks for information ;)

I’m not even sure where Ohio is.
a classic/ignorant comment from mike
It’s called a joke. Learn to laugh :)
It’s the place where the Buckeyes rule and #1 up-and-coming tech city according to Forbes. C’mon down. I’m sure they’ll give you a warm welcome on High Street. ;-)
Darn. I won’t be back in town for class till January 4th. :(
Hi. is the meetup just to talk about whatever or is it geared at something specific like startups? thanks.
We;ve had some past meetups at the Surely Girl for StartUp Drinks. Good spot for food, beers and startup talks. I’ll be there one way or another.
are we going cow tipping afterwards?
There hasnt been cowtipping since the 80’s and early 90’s when Columbus Clippers were the toast of the town.
Time to re-evaluate your perceptions of C-Bus folks.
The Clippers have NEVER been the toast of the town. In order of most beloved to ignored:
Ohio State ———> Blue Jackets -> Crew -> Clippers
*Extra spaces added for emphasis on the first.
Hey, I like cow tipping. And then afterward, we can all sit around a big bonfire and share some chaw. (But not me. Girls don’t do chaw.)
I’ll stop in
I think so… Ohio start-ups, bring some marketing materials.. hiks.. ;)
I’ll stop by too.
I’ll stop by I think. I’m moving to boston from ann arbor and might be able to take some time off to drive down.
I will try to stop by!
And if I am able to make it, you can poke fun at my BB Storm too!
Ahh I won’t be able to make it. Along with most OSU students I’m assuming. We won’t be back for class until January 3rd/4th.
Hey, we (FreshLABS) are doing an “entrepreneur-get-together” event on Friday (http://anyvite.com/events/home/zzilybyxnz). Email me (yury@tryfresh.com) for an invitation. Drinks on us.
I’ll try to be at both events, but Surly Girl feels a little dismal for startup events.
And Michael, we’re doing a tractor pull after. Cow tipping is far too gauche.
OP, are you bringing “the network” from the TV commercials? Will you let us tilt your Storm for amusement?
- Yury
Michael, just noticed that Crunchgear/TC uses a button from ShareThis – an Ohio-based startup.
Columbus is a nice city. Great place to raise a family, so go Bucks!!!
Ohio? O. M. G. Are you f-ing kidding me? I’d rather have my eyes plucked out by vultures.

Hail the Sweater Vest
The condescending comments regarding the location just make the authors come off poorly.
Wow, what a surprise! As long as weather is not too bad, I’ll try to join as well!
A happy coincidence. Going to try.
The Ohio Animoto contingent (me) will be there assuming the red-eye hang-over isn’t crippling.

Hey Mike,
Come on dogg, don’t hate on the buckeye state! Not only can tip cows betta than anyone else, we are also home to some killer startups… including easyTXTR, and DOmedia (remember Meetup 9?) Check us at http://www.domedia.com.
See ya’ll on the 29th!
D.
Looking forward to being there and spreading the word about Sandbox – The first Co-working space to open in Columbus. Now all of you will have a place to hang, even the wolverine is welcome!
Hi Tina. Where can I learn more about sandbox? I heard there was one in Cleveland but did not know about Columbus.
TechColumbus has more then 400 business members and hosts more than 125 networking events each year. Our TechStart program has had great great success in building successful technology startup companies through our Entrepreneurial Services and Inncubator programs.
Will try to stop by and see everyone!
I’d drive up from Cincinnati, but I’m going out of town (warm Miami, FL) on vacation. Hope this isn’t just a one time event for Ohio!
Tina and Jackson, Would love to add a link to the Columbus Sandbox group on our Jelly Columbus wiki. More here http://wiki.workatjelly.com/JellyinColumbus
As for Mike Arrington’s anti-Ohio comments…kudos for getting us all worked up. We are entering the tech game later than other states, but we have a lot of momentum for an explosion of innovation. We may not be first to the game, but when we show up – we make a splash. Ohio does have cows, but that’s not all. Check out our Comfest event http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/comfest/ – yep, that’s Ohio too.
Ohio is also home to the Ingenuity Festival – a fusion of technology, arts, and music:
