The SWGEmu team announced yesterday that it’s going ahead with plans to launch a fully playable test server for the Star Wars Galaxies Emulation Project sometime in the first quarter of 2009. Galaxies is fun again, chaps.

The move, announced yesterday in a special Christmas message on the team’s message board, confirms that it will be running an official server called Sun Crusher, an allusion to a weapon in the Star Wars universe. In addition to the official server, the SWGEmu team says that it will allow other, fan-provided servers to tap into the project. The team will provide server requirements—capacity, bandwidth, etc.—for those interested in running fan servers.

In the words of the team itself:

Our #1 commitment is releasing a fully functional, identical SWG (with bug fixes) emulator. This “vanilla” release will be maintained by SWGEmu for the foreseeable future. That said, the majority, if not all, of the SWGEmu developers are excited to take pre-cu and fulfill the potential that SOE never got around to doing.

And there you have it, a fully playable test server come next year.

  • Much better than playing the shitty NGE and paying for a card game to get new stuff.

Smed, you fucking fail you cunt.

    • Wow, what grown up language.
While the sheer boredom of the game had alot to do with me leaving, it was more of having to deal with the immature whiney little brats both in game and on the forums that finally drove me away.

Thanks Wildcat for reminding me why I left the game. I guess if the ignorant little bastards like you are going to play on SWGEMU, I’ll stay away from that too.

Smed, you “people having intercourse” fail you “Vagina”.

Hmm, that makes soo much sense.

      • Not everyone at SWGEmu.com is like this Kin, the community is very mature compared to that. Don’t let someones immaturity make you not come back to Pre-Cu.

      • I agree with KroniK. Don’t let one silly comment dissuade you from trying the Emu. Lots of us in the community are very mature and try to help out the new plays, even those that never tried Pre-CU or SWG at all.

I’ve been a part of the Emu community since 2006 and it has been an awesome time. When Sun Crusher goes live, we will truly be grinding in Pre-CU once again.

      • Hey, you’re that MTV jedi guy =D

But yeah most of the tiny children will be driven away by the sheer fact that the game is too complex for their insignificant little brains.

I hope to see ya on sun crusher Kin

  • Kin-Char, please tell me an online game in which there are not any people who act immature? Thats what I thought. Plz grow a bit of a thicker skin. I agree with you that immaturity sucks, it is something that everyone has to deal with. But please, keep blaming other people for the fact that you don’t play swg. :-/

  • ‘Smed, you “people having intercourse” fail you “Vagina”.’

Actually, since there are no “people” present in the sentence to modify, the adjective is modifying “cunt” still. So it would be

“Smed, you vagina that is having intercourse, you fail.”

Which, makes sense, and is actually pretty telling of my night last night with your mom.

    • Actually no, it’s an adverb modifying “fail”. While crude, it is fairly common in modern times for people to use “f’ing” to add emphasis, presumably due to laziness or a limited vocabulary.

  • now you all sound immature

  • 1 ? we are past Q1 and i still cant find any playable private servers anyone know of any i already pay for wow and and not going to pay for swg if the emu is so close to coming out
