I am sorta a gadget geek, and while I do want a cool geeky watch with a lot of features (Currently have an Abacus WristPDA) I do see why the WristPDA and other such watches fail.

They just aren't practical or useful.

Most people use their cellphones for just about everything now, for some, that includes telling the time.

What I would love to see is a standard for accessing common functions over a cellphone like Caller ID, Accepting/Sending calls, Reading text messages, and controlling the media player, etc over a bluetooth "remote" be made, and then have a watch that uses this standard.

Obviously, things such as sending a text, or more advanced features as taking/viewing pictures, web browsing, etc would be pointless to do in this way, but thats not the point of the device.

Most people keep their cellphones in a holster or their pockets, the point of the watch I am envisoning is to be a mini-remote for just the most basic functions (checking who is calling or what the message you just said was) so you don't need to actually take out the phone unless you need it for more complicated tasks.

Clearly, this would be more useful for a PDA-phone, since they are large and clunky and are made to almost be a micro-laptop(at least that is how I use mine when there is no desktop/laptopreadily or easily avaliable), far more features and versitility than a normal phone. But couple the remote-watch idea with a bluetooth headset and it becomes a verfy useful set, allowing someone who is currently working on something(repairing a system, driving, electrical work, etc) to see who is calling or what the message is, and call/talk with the person by just glancing at their watch instead of needing to reach for their phone just to see who is talking, then using up one of their hands and concentration to actually talk.

This is why I feel a remote-watch rather than a watch that has the cellphone in it would be more useful.

There HAVE been several cellphone watches in the past (and videophone watches as well) all failed.
