Yahoo is reporting that Wal-Mart is now selling the 8GB iPhone 3G for $197, $98 more than the $99 we were hoping last week let alone the $99 refurb price at AT&T. Not much else to report on this one but it is interesting to see the iPhone visit the hinterlands where AT&T and Apple stores are scarce.

What kind of volume do you think Walmart bought in? I wonder if it’ll cause a significant increase in Apple’s numbers for this quarter.
Actually, I should be asking, did WalMart buy these directly from Apple or from AT&T who bought it from Apple? If AT&T is the intermediary, they could have already had the inventory in stock.
The Wal-mart in zanesville, ohio received 50. They can’t seem to unbrick the demo so they have not sold any yet
