The executive isn't too far off the mark. We have been seeing for some time now a steady and even rapid "merging" of all these products. Computing power is indeed shrinking and while maybe not a full computer in the traditional sense these small pocket devices are enabling us to do a great deal of what computers have done. We are only in the infant stage but the merger of these devices is indeed moving us toward an all-in-one communication/computing device.

I say DUH! net books just like UMPC's companies trying to squeeze out some extra money before cell phones start allowing you to attach monitors and keyboards and mice, which I already have the keyboard and mouse part for my PPC-6700.

Similar comment from Steve Jobs - "As we look at the netbook category, that's a nascent category, as best as we can tell, not a lot of them getting sold. One of our entrants into that category, if you will,
is the iPhone, for browsing the Internet and doing e-mail and all of the other things that a net book lets you do, and being connected via the cellular net wherever you are, an iPhone is a pretty good solution for that, and it fits in your pocket"

Until we have a solid definition for either smartphone or netbook, its hard to be critical of these comments.
