The dv2 is a much sexier notebook, but the dv3 has its place, too. Okay, maybe not. With a 13.3-inch screen, AMD Athlon X2 or Turion Ultra X2 proc and an ATI Radeon HD(9) 3200 graphics card it isn’t much to write home about. Supports up to 8GB of RAM and a 400GB HDD. I guess I like the HDMI, VGA and 3 USB ports the most on this machine. Like I said, it doesn’t do much to excite me. The backlit keyboard is nice, though. And I guess the 5-in-1 card reader is a nice bonus. But don’t all HP notebooks come with such things these days? It doesn’t even have a Blu-ray drive. I’ll pass.
The dv3 starts out at $799.

That is sure expensive considering how feature poor it is. Now sure what the point of building it is.

I swear I saw this same machine a month or two ago listed with 512MB graphics card, which would change my opinion of this a lot. Was there a different machine? Did HP change the specs? Is there a misprint?
You’re thinking about the Best Buy exclusive laptop, which has superior specs but is slightly more expensive.
HP was very aggressive during the holidays and now jacked up the prices.
I have one. I love it. I’m in IT and work with a large variety of machines every day. I own several laptops less than 2 years old including 21, 17, 15, 10 and 6 inch screen models with a variety of processors, memory, etc. Not boasting just making the point I have a lot to compare it too. The thing to love about this machine is its portable size, light weight, long battery life, backlite keyboard and beautiful screen LED backlight. Its the machine I use the most.
