Notrus82... seems you know more than anyone at Dexxon. The machine is available in France, Belgium, Italy, US and soon China from what I know.

The reviewer do lack vision though, USB key could have many usage as some commenters can see it. Also a big difference is that Gdium is supposed to be a brick in an educational ecosystem as well as committed to Open Source (drivers, firmware, etc).

Let's see how all this evolves.

Not very promising indeed to be delayed that much. Any news when it's released at last to hear the comments of first time users?

$400 for that netbook with major feature mistakes in it. That's considered a real rip off. it's doomed to fail before it's actually launched!

They might actually be onto something here. Imagine a console in an airport or cafe with the same concept? Just sit down at the terminal, plug in your key, and you've got your desktop on the screen with all your documents, apps and files. No more cursing when an internet cafe doesnt have the neccessary apps installed on their computers to read your docs. No more downloading pictures onto a flash drive only to go home and have to load them onto your personal computer and organise them. It could be the ultimate in portability. yes?

I'm not wowed by the machine, but I kind of like the idea of issuing thumbdrives to each user that has their own personal install on it. I could see that sort of system taking off in a school, eliminating the need for futzing about with Active Directory and networked drives.

Actually the view on the picture is a little lit deceptive. The key does not hang out in the front, there is actually a deeper slot where the key slides completely, without protuding. And the whole systenm is quite transparent when you are using the device.
As for me I am quite triggered by the Gdium, since having a netbook I can use with my wife and kids at home, without having them pollute my disk space with their stuff is quite an exciting perspective.
