I haven't even figured out the point of wall mounting a TV yet, TBH. I've got to have a stand of some kind or I have nowhere to put my Xbox 360 / wii / DVR.

I suppose I could hide them in the closet or something and try to go RF on the remotes / controllers, but why would i want to go into the closet every time i want to switch games?

Functionally there is pretty much no point.

I believe technology should be functional yet hidden. Therefore, the less visible it is, except for what simply needs to be, the better.

I'd much rather see a painting on the wall then a TV. Making it thin enough to nearly disappear(except behind the elegant wooden frame) makes it fit the individual design/home so much better.

If you rather have all your technology protrude from design or that is your design, then cool. :)

You have to plug stuff in for the TV to have any value so who cares how thin it is? I agree with Matt - a few inches never hurt anyone as far as TV thickness is concerned and I would rather have a nice PQ and feature set than a paper thin TV.

Eh... Not a biggie to me. Wall mounted would look better than something like 2 to 3 inches thick. I would hate to be the one doing it. I'm all for it if they decrease the weight but also not making it flimsy.

I don't understand the anorexic televisions either because I don't want a TV I'm afraid to touch or can't get repaired b/c the internal electronics are so compact.

Samsung is adding services to get more money for their televisions instead of only coming out with TVs on a diet.

Manufacturers should focus on adding better warranties to their product and that can be the great innovation - "TVs you don't have to get sued over because no one stood behind them."

Making them use less power would be another way, but it'll take time while OLED is getting cheaper to do.
