Better hurry: Windows 7 beta now online (now with direct links)

Here’s the Windows 7 beta download link. Go crazy, but not too crazy you don’t want to put an eye out or anything.

UPDATE Well, that link is no longer working; all you get is a page that says “Beta coming soon!” Luckily for you the direct link to the ISO have emerged.

Thanks to Wired/Steve Clayton/Commenter Anthony for pointing those out. How long those direct links will work, who knows.

I haven’t seen these many people excited over a Windows release, and a beta at that, since walking around the mall on Windows 95 day way back when.

UPDATE 2 According to that Wired link (which may be bad, too, now), this beta is build 7000, which you can find all over the big BitTorrent sites. So, you know, if you can’t get the demo the official way, hint hint.

Good luck downloading anything. So far I’ve only been as so lucky to get to the next page on the TechNet. And it’s stuck in a spinny ball mode. I would suggest that you copy the url if you get to this step so you don’t have to restart.

Or just wait for the fully cracked ISO to show up on BitTorrent! Not that I advocate that, of course.

Wired.com has the links to download the ISOs, but you still need to register to get an activation key:

  There’s now a newer post on Wired.com that has more updated info and chatter from a bunch of users as to what’s going on with the beta, which appears to have been postponed until they can get more resources to handle the demand.

The 3.5 gig file downloads into a 717 byte ISO.

The direct links are bad.

99% downloaded with orbitdownloader… and it will not go any farther. Been 2 hours now and it wont get that last 1%
