What’s better than when the local municipality uses hi-tech against you? It’s all the rage in France, where parking meters are ruining people’s lives by calling the cops when time expires. So, instead of paying €2 for parking all of a sudden you’re whipping out your checkbook to the tune of €100 for overstaying the meter by four seconds. That’s good.
The tech here was developed by a company named Technolia. It’s raison d’etre is to create these little parking meters with a direct phone line to the police station. Overstay your welcome in the parking space by a minute and la police come a-knockin’.
I wonder how long till Mayor “Cut Services, Raise Taxes” Bloomberg hears about this.

So how do they call? Cellular signal? I give it a few months before hacker figure out a way to block those calls.
I can’t imagine all those are hard wired phone lines….
Le Douchebags…
What? I live in Paris and never heard of this!!!
You should probably check your sources first!
This doesn’t exist at all! What a joke!
Check sources? Like say, the London Times? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article5469373.ece
Perhaps they don’t have Le Google in Le France.
I bet Bon Yoyage surrendered his car already and that’s why he has not idea what is going on in his own country…gotta love the French. What would we do without Fries…
Expect this in New York City before the snow is off this ground. There is no way Bloomberg could turn this sort of revenue down.
fries come from Belgium, and google.com still is google.com everywhere…
oh well…
