Powermat is finally getting close to releasing its charging pads that we have been spying on for years. The company has five upcoming pads, each aimed for a slightly different use.

Two three port pads, the Bedside and Desk Mat, are obviously aimed at specific users. The Bedside comes in a soft white with a clock that rests on one of the pads. The Desk Mat however, comes in black digs and has a single speaker for your listening pleasure.

Powermat also has a travel unit coming out that folds up nicely into its own case. Just a thought though? Wouldn’t it be just as easy to bring the OEM chargers? Anyway.

The big boy home charger uses a modular design for customization. Each section chargers two devices and can be connected any which way. Plus, the company threw in a little catch-all for your wallet and such.

The PC charging pad ups the power output and utilizes a charging dongle that kind-of shows the downside to these devices; you still have to use a cable to charge many items.

  • This looks stupid… the only reason I’d ever buy one of these if it actually worked like they way it was invisioned… not with chords. Disappointed.

  • Wait, I see a picture with a cord going into the ipod, what’s that all about? I thought it was going to transfer power over a wireless interface, right?

If it does, I’d like to see it integrated into laptops or mouse pads or something I already physically use so that I can charge my phone without having something extra around me

  • I think it looks awesome. First chance I get I’m picking up a bedside mat!

  • I’ve been lamenting all the stupid cords for awhile now, so I’m excited about this!

  • This looks really cool. Can’t wait to get one so I can clean up all that clutter.

  • I for one can’t wait to try it for myself. The PowerMat technology will allow me to leave the cords at home, no more carrying them everywhere that I go – sign me up!

  • this looks AMAZING! can’t wait to get one for myself!

  • So what type of effects can it cause to a human body? im sure the electrodes dont just stop at the matt. So what happens to you in the long run if you have it running next to your bed at night level with your head/brain? Just curious so people dont just have a go at me for asking a question.

  • fairly lame and old technology. my Sonicare toothbrush has been doing it for 15 years! plus you have to clip a add on onto whatever devices you want to use it with. The mat only supports about .001% of devices out there, the mat plugs into the wall! not very wireless more of wire to magnet to another magnet to your device (if your lucky to have a sleeve made for your device that is)
