I can’t say I am surprised, Apple pretty much owns the music and phone marketplace with their products… and the holidays is the time people spend the most money too!

Uhm, ankit, it doesn’t take much research to find that the iPhone revenue is deferred over a 2 year period. Look up any Apple 10K or 10Q filing with the SEC. The iPod revenue is NOT deferred and is recognized in the quarter it is incurred.

I read somewhere that iPhone revenue is declared over a 2 year period, anyone know why?

If it’s related to warranty coverage, then the iPod would be as well. If it’s because of cell phone carrier agreements, then the iPod wouldn’t unless they had some other reason.

The reason I ask is that it would make a big impact on their quarterly results depending on how they approach this.
