Yes, please! Add thumb nail support for videos. I have a Sony HD camcorder. I was able to get the videos recognized by the WD TV, but a list of 1000+ file names, with no image or even date reference, is just impossible to navigate. Please fix this! thanks.

I just bought one of these and I like it with one HUGE exception:
I have a relatively large collection of movies encoded and contained in divx with embedded subtitles.

The otherwise nice WD HD TV box plays them without the subtitles and I could not find a way around that yet.

To me, this is weird:
Even my 55$ no name 3 years old divx player with an usb port does that...

WDTV is not bad but it would be much better if it recognised and played FLV files and all ASF files ( It only shows a zero timeline). I have the most current firmware.

it would be nice if it would play FLV and asf( it says it will play these file but not a single one of my ASF files play).

Western Digital said that they couldn't get a license to play FLV files.

It would be great if they put support for DV format from DV camcorders, so I could copy avi from miniDV cassete to hard disk and watch it without compression on my HD TV through WD TV player.

I noticed that DIVX is not on the list of supported formats but I have been playing DIVX movies from 5 years ago and DIVX movies made from the latestest codec and they ALL play perfectly. Since DIVX works just fine why arent they on the supported list or is this a fluke and suddeny when divx.com comes out with a new codec the new movies will suddenly not work?

I absolutely love this device!!!

I love this thing, but it does need some sort of visualizer for music and an update so I can have audio to most of my MKV files. So many of them are unsupported. I'd say about 80% of my MKV's have unsupported audio.

I too would love that.

MP3 playback is a bit sluggish IMO. Skipping to the next song does take a milli second or so too long.

One fatal problem: photos slideshow usually take more than 10 seconds for one picture change to another. So slow! Such a time consuming. Your will be tired just to look 2-3 pictures!
Hope a new firmware will solve this problem.

Option during playback - adjust to screen.

Fix the stutter in playback with some files like mp4.

Play MKV files with digital surround sound.

Play simple OGM files

Have a search option for all files. what i mean with this is a funcion to search scenes with all files.

Hope they could fix all these things with a new firmware

Hi all

I really like this unit. I only have a couple of suggestions for future firmware upgrades.

I do get some stuttering/jittering on some video files and I am not sure what causes this. Some other site suggested global motion compensation or lack of it in the unit causes this?

The other issue is that when the unit is in Auto mode for video resolution my Samsung LCD keeps losing signal when using HDMI. I have the Samsung LA32A550 and LA46A550 models.

I hope some of these issues are addressed in the next firmware release.

Cheers

1. Fix subtitles timings they are a little bit off( they are late)
2. The <i> or italics on subtitles are not used they only appear as that <i> making them anoyying.
3. Ability to sort movies by name or any other way, or avility to check off the files that you have already played.
4. Search feature to find files by name

I bought a WD My Book ext. drive to go with the WD HD Mediaplayer but when I try to copy MKV movies of a size about 4.5 G (standard size for HD movie) I get a warning that there's not enough room on the hard drive (not true) Anyone one else have the same problem or any ideas about what to do (other than convert files to avi which kind of defeats the object of having a HD player) ?

Being able to change aspect ratio on-the-fly or from the option button etc. would be useful rather than going back to settings to do it.
