I rather take delivery of the the Telsa Model "S" fully electric car expected to hit the streets in 2011/12...no gas, 300 mile range per charge, 45 minutes to fully charge it, and it looks beautiful http://www.teslamotors.com/

With my home electric plan the cost goes down to $0.05/KW/H during off peak hours.

My round trip to work is less than 30 miles. So one weeks work driving is going to cost about $2.50 in electricity

I agree 100%, it's a misleading ratio. He did say however that the battery delivers 10 kilowatt hours so about 1.00 for a complete charge if you pay .10 per kwh.

You are an idiot to buy a product from this company. They don't know how to stay in business. Yes, they may stick around, but I could even run a multibillion dollar company if the government supplied the revenue stream. This environmentally smart crap is a PR ply. All the liberal stupids will fall for it. I'm just glad it's there money, not mine, this time.

LOL... I was thinking the same thing.

Listen carefully to the so called salesperson. Is it me or does he contradict himself several times. At one point he claims only 40mpg. I'd never buy from this guy.

Quit typing out of your arse. The power grid is remarkably more efficient for powering cars than 100 million combustion engines.

For city dwellers, plugging it into a non-existent garage, might be a reason to avoid this auto.

Kudos to Ford for creating a HMUV (High maintenance utility vehicle)

Dear Sceptical,
You are not quite right. Plugin means much less carbon dioxoide emissions, even though you still have to burn some coal. Something 2-3 times less. And it does not exhaust much in the traffic jam (unlike modern gasoline cars). The source of electricity can be nuclear, solar, hydo. Last but not least, US has it coal for 200-300 years, but domestic oil has basically finished already.

I hate the term "MPG" with plug-in cars, because it's a half-truth. Yes, it may go that far on a gallon of gasoline, but how much will it cost me in electricity to charge each night? $10? Maybe there should be a new hybrid energy factor that measures overall cost to run the vehicle, taking into account gas and electricity usage. Like the EnergyGuide labels on appliances.
