First patch for Windows 7 beta addresses MP3 bug

The Windows 7 beta is so 10 minutes ago. Still, many of you seem to be genuinely interested in Microsoft’s newest operating system, so you might want to know that a patch has been issued for it. The patch addresses an issue involving MP3 playback.

Yes, this, the first patch for Windows 7 beta, fixes a problem that prevented the OS from properly handling MP3 files. Basically, MP3 files with “large headers” wouldn’t play in their entirety.

The patch should come through via Windows Update.

Apparently there’s another, more serious bug that this patch doesn’t address, something to do with an SMB vulnerability. That’s gonna have to wait till the next “public release” of Windows 7 to be fixed.

  • Hey, maybe the first patch for it is not the most important. I say the most important thing is the fact that I am running Windows 7 Build 7000 as my primary os and it is amazing. The fact that I am able to run it as my primary os says it all.

  • Dude Nicky is just mad that windows 7 rocks and his a douche who only gets back bad comments if any…. i bet he secretly has a crush on jobs too

  • i wish it was stable for me. always bsod after a few minutes or changing a single setting in control panel.

  • no one dont knows this… This is not a beta version!!!! it’s too ealier to say about this “beta version”

Did you download the ISO directly from Windows or a p2p or free hosting site?

Always download from a quality source otherwise you run the risk of installing a corrupt OS, same thing happens if you badly scratch an OS CD.

BSOD can mean a number of things, but from experience it might have something to do with your BIOS setup or hardware as the majority of Win7 users all had no problem with their copy, because it’s a beta there might be a driver issue with one of your connected devices or internal hardware, so it’s a matter of process of elimination.
