converter_box_program_dtvThe transition from analog to digital broadcasts is just over one month away and some peeps on the Internet are getting a little antsy. Some say that the FCC and appropriate agencies have not done enough to prepare Grandma Patsy and Uncle bob. Personally, I don’t know what else can be done. It seems there is a ad spot nearly every commercial break about the subject during primetime.and at least in my lowly market of Flint, MI, every local TV station have conducted call-ins and townhall meetings. Besides door-to-door campaigns with free converter boxes and installation, I don’t know what else can be done.

We’re curious to judge your perception of the switch-over so hit the read link and participate in a couple of quick polls and feel free to leave your general thoughts in the comments.

  • What else could they possibly do? I see ads on television every time I flip it on, and I’m pretty sure I’ve even heard a few on the radio.

This isn’t meant to sound elitist, but how many people out there are really still using the bunny ear antennae anyways? The government could put the money spent on those commercials to better use at this point.

    • A poor non-elitist like myself doesn’t have cable. Quite frankly its kind of a waste. What with online offerings getting better and better, and my movies coming from netflix, I don’t see the need to spend $30 or more per month on TV.

  • Not enough coupons for each house! I got 2 coupons, but they immediately expired and I didn’t get a chance to go hunting for a box. Besides only 2 coupons per house? I have more than one TV on each apartment, let alone the whole house.
They also make it ridiculously hard for someone to “talk” to customer supports. Seems like every time I call, they are busy. I must imagine how grandma or uncle bob feel calling asking for questions.

  • Geez it not like it’s an inalienable right or something. I wish they’d just throw the friggen switch and get it over with.

Seriously, my 80 year dad has four converters. Anyone not up to speed by now does not deserve a TV
