Is that a phone in your pocket or are you just happy to see me not have to recharge your G1 every two hours?
Devin was just squawking about the lackluster battery life on his G1 when I reminded him of this extended battery I’d purchased for mine. While on Seidio’s site, I just noticed that they’re now selling a fantastic brick of a $55 extended battery with a replacement cover.
You’ll recall from my review of the 1400mAh extended battery that the standard G1 battery has an 1150mAh capacity. This new monster has a 2600mAh capacity! If you can’t make it through an entire day with this thing, you’ve got much bigger problems.
Granted, you probably won’t be able to sit down with your phone in your pocket for fear that you’ll tear your pants right off, but maybe you could hold your phone in a gun holster under your armpit. You’d look cool and you’d finally enjoy acceptable G1 battery life. It’s a win-win!

The G1 is already border-line with design, size and weight… but that battery pack makes the device hideous, it wouldn’t even fit on my hip anymore ;-(
yeah, i am kind of disappointed on the battery life bit, not to mention the rough nature of the apps market, but really android is the shiznit!

Mugen Power is also making extended batteries for G1, check out here: http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=t-mobile+g1&x=0&y=0
Man, my G1 eats battery life like it’s going out of style. I would love to get an extended life battery but that thing looks like a BEAST! It would probably pull my pants down or something. The other problem I found is that they all sell the battery with a back cover for a black G1 and I have the white G1, which has the champagne colored back panel.
Also, how does the camera work? I guess it would be in a small “tunnel” since the cover extends past it considerably.
Ahh the marvels of modern technology.
The G1 is nice but it’s not the prettiest thing ever made, granted it’s first gen but with another odd bulge coming out the back!..
That’s one of the things that drew me to it. I appreciated its oddness in appearance. The second major attraction was the fact that it ties into all my Google stuff. My daily life practically revolves around my Google “cloud”.
I totally agree though. I don’t think I could deal with a pregnant G1 in my pocket all the time. I like the dimensions of it as is.
I agree with you on that. I use a lot of google’s services right now. It makes the whole g1/iphone/storm all that much harder :/
You can calibrate the stock battery to extend life:
